Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I am so sorry that you are in so much pain and that your new Doc wants to label you an addict because you need medications to control your chronic pain.
It sounds to me like you have Failed Surgery Syndrome and that is not going to get any better, it will just get worst with age. I know because I have the same.
After 4 spinal surgeries in my lumbar spine, I was diagnosed with FBSS and I also have Radiculopathy on my left leg and now saddle anesthesia.
You need to change pain management Doctor's. You need to find a Doctor that will be able to treat your pain effectively and not call you an addict. Is this Doctor that you are seeing a pain management specialist? If he is not, is time for you to go to one. If he is, is time to go to a different one. What you have is intractable pain, that means that is pain that will always be there and it needs to be treated effectively and he obviously is not doing that.
Go ahead and google; "The Intractable Pain Patients Handbook For Survival" by Dr. Forrest Tennant, print it and read it. You will see that you are been under treated. I would make a copy for your current Doc before firing him so he can read it and learn how to treat people in chronic pain.
Also I have posted here in this site a letter called; "A Letter To Normals From Someone in Chronic Pain". I am going to bump up the post so you can read the letter and then make copies of it for your family members so they can understand what you are going through.
Do not give up! Just get yourself a new Doc! Fired this one and find one that will care, OK?
Wish you lots of luck and keep us posted in what happens with you in your journey.
Take care,
I am so happy that you found the letter to normals! Give those to everyone that thinks that you are faking your pain and anyone that doesn't understand what your pain is all about. It is a good way to say what you always wanted to say........
I also hope that you will find a good compassionate Doctor soon.
