Well, first problem...
I stupidly told supervisor at work that I was going to boyfriend's house 45 minutes away for Easter. I do not know when I will learn to keep my personal info to myself.
We both have chronic health issues, mine is diagnosed as severe osteoarthritis, among other things, and he has phantom pain from being an amputee.
So it was a dreary, rainy day and we decided when I got there not to go to church.
We sat and watched TV, had lunch, and watched more tv. I was coughing a bit but feeling ok otherwise, kinda a tickle in throat, froggy voice.
When I got home and laid down, I had the wheezes and rattles as I breathe.
Woke up today in an arthritis flare and symptoms above. Called into work, using FMLA for arthritis.
Of course my Dr. is on vacation and I could not be seen till tomorrow to get an antibiotic.
I had to postpone my appt with GI specialist for my IBS just to be seen by family Dr.
He will need to write me out for 2 days for arthritis flare.
I am beginning to think i just need to try to get on disability.
Anyone have any advice or good thoughts?

there is a lot to go through but if you need it you need than apply if there is any other option that might be better

It's a big decision whether or not to go on SSD. There are positives and negatives.
When I had to finally give up nursing back in 1999, I spent a lot of years questioning whether I did the right thing, that maybe I could still work. I found by trying other jobs that I just couldn't work.
Discuss this with your doctors. They can give you an idea of what they feel about you going the SSD route. Mine were all for it. By the time I brought it up to them, they had brought it up to me more than once.
Then decide if financially you can actually afford it. I know money shouldn't figure into this, but I get about 1/3 of what I would be making as a nurse and it's completely changed our goals as a family as to owning a home or taking a vacation we really want. Yes, we're making it better than some folks, but I long for the days when we had 2 full salaries and could just go out to dinner when we wanted.
But if the pain continues to keep you from working, sooner or later you'll have to make this decision because work will only give you so much FMLA or short term disability or whatever else you can collect while you're out sick.
And if you do decide to seek SSD, get a lawyer from the start- they're free upfront and don't get paid unless you do. It helps with all the paperwork and red-tape.
I've been on SSD for 10 years and have a grand total of $100 in my savings. But at least we have a roof over our head and food in our stomaches and thankfully my husband has decent health care coverage along with my Medicare.
I hope this helps- I didn't want to candy coat it- it's a big decision to make.
