Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I don't get it? What are we suppose to do? Disappear?
Lets see if any of these idiots would feel any different if it was them or their family members.
How stupid to go after the doctor & not the dang people who violated the laws! The entire thing is screwed up. Go after the innocent & make deals with the guilty. Seems to me they want to put the doctor out of business.
Ive said it before & I'll say it again sooner or later we'll have to fight for our right to be pain free.
So sad & enough to make me sick.
Sammy
It's pretty plain to me. Maybe it's so simple it's hard for the gov to understand. They just have to revisit prohibition and its repeal.
Sorry guys. Didn't mean to sound negative.
I hope everyone has a beautiful day.
Thanks for posting Dixie, we all need to be aware.
I came here to post about my friend who went to the doctor today for a sprained knee. I was with her and our 2 year olds yesterday and she was in so much pain she could barely walk. I even lent her my cane! She had never (except when she had the baby) taken pain pills and she mentioned that she hoped she would at least get a prescription b/c the pain was keeping her up at night and from the look of her knee and leg, I can understand why. I told her not to get her hopes up.
Today she tells me that it is indeed sprained but the doc refused to give her anything for the pain. It just makes me sick. Would a few pills to help a diagnosed problem make her into an addict? I can't even IMAGINE being diagnosed with RSD TODAY as opposed to 15 years ago when I got it. Today they probably would leave me to chew off my own foot!
Okay, thanks again Dixie- I'm off to read part three. It makes me sick to read it but we must know these things. Knowledge is power. It may be knowledge we don't want, but we need to be prepared. And it's good that at least the writer and Huffington Post are bringing attention to this!
[From the third article]
And that, dear friends, goes to show that he has no idea what he's talking about.
i'm already so mad at my pain doc for putting "do not refill til 3/23" on my scrip when i was honest and brought in my pills. i feel like a child for having to bring in everything from my patch boxes to my pills to be counted. (%)$#%I#%(* stupid system. i sit here in pain dolling out my pills as a last resort, end up chasing pain, while 20 druggies are on the street buying them from sh!t holes. see, i can't read that idiocy right now. someone in my bldg has already offered to sell me some. there's a petition site online where you can start your own. i'm going to do that. monday, but it's on my list.
He discovered that by soaking my RIGHT foot in warm water, my left foot would warm up! It is, IMO, genius. It doesn't last forever but gives great relief to me. So I'm in the basement soaking my right foot in warm water, and hoping it'll take some of the cold pain away.
I want to put my bad foot in to take the hot pain away, but it doesn't work like that. Why does RSD have to be such a contradiction?
Anyway, I read part 3 and while yes, it angers me, I already know that there are people out there that just won't be informed unless they need painkillers! I mean, I don't wish ill on anyone, but come ON! And while I don't care for addicts at all, I don't know why it's the governments job to worry if anyone does get addicted. It's not a good thing but whose job is it to take care of ME? It's MY job.
If I HAD become an addict I wouldn't have my hubby, my son, my life. So who would've suffered? ME! I know that's just MY opinion, but they're basing all this hoopla on keeping people from becoming addicts? If someone wants to get drunk or high, they will, and they don't need a doctor to do it.
But regarding the article- when everyone can, it's so important! When you can- not when it's a bad time.
Thanks again Dixie!
It's really discouraging to read these articles. And yes it does make you really mad as some of the injustice that has been done like to the dr. I mentioned!!!
I'm horrified to say that I think it is going to get worse before it gets better!
I think we've all got to stay vigilant, take notes when we see our docs and make sure we never break a rule. We have to be the ones who are perfect patients, so there's never a reason to lose our lives. I KNOW that I couldn't live my life with the RSD pain. I couldn't even move back then!
Let's hope more writers and papers take up the cause! And anyone here who can should write the author so he knows how many of us there are!
We've GOT to get this in the headlines. And keep it there. And famous people have got to stop dying b/c it's always blamed on prescription drugs. And the fact that if Whitney had only taken a penicillan THAT would be a prescription drug related death. It's a mess.
Thanks again- I'm so glad to have all 3 parts!
my BP is low to normal, but when they take it it's always a bit high, a combo of the bus travel and what they'll do. last time was disappointing. he's already cut my breakthrough meds from every 3-4 hours to every 8. that's crazy.
thanks for sharing this with all. i've been following this series and think it's one of the best things i've ever read on CP.
A couple of the things that stood out for me in most recent article: zero representation from people with chronic pain in house committee hearing on prescription drug overdose deaths (crazy!!!) and there are as many deaths associated with anti-depressessants as there are with opiods.
i hate the way we're treated.
sometimes i want to go out on the street with a sign that says HELP.
i've tried everything else, including being the so called perfect patient.
i can sit up and type right now because i'm on a small amount of percocet which brings my pain to a 6 for about 2 hrs a day. otherwise, i'm at 7/8 (sometimes 9) .
for so many with cp it feels like a dead-end , solution-less.
