It fooled me about the alcohol thingie until I read article! I didnt know they used alcohol to release the opioids from the pills a doctor would give you! I thought you meant they drank while taking the pain pills! My knowledge base of drug abuse isnt the greatest since I stopped abusing drugs in 1982. Thats sounds like a good idea, anything that stops abuse of prescription drugs is...if something like this becomes widely available it might stop doctors etc assuming that most people who take narcotics are doing so to get high. Maybe then those of us who need them to have have some sort of quality of life wont all be labeled as addicts.

Is it safe to put these chemicals in your body though? I know there is a lawsuit with the OP Oxy's where people are getting intestinal blockages from the Polyox plastic binder that is in them. Some people claim that they excrete the pills out whole completely undigested. I have not had an issue with them. But even with the ceramic pills, they can just put them in citric acid and dissolve them as if they were in the stomach. Abusers will always find a way to abuse their meds.

This is what is inside the Oxicontin that is made by Perdue. It makes me wonder what this stuff does to the body when they use it in plastic injection molds. lol

I would wonder too about what the results of these ceramics are in the body....plastics are toxic....hell erin brockovic was on DR. OZ today about florides in water....LOL I do not care...I will die of something that is for sure....hugs bill

The ceramic compound they use is made of the same Calcium Phosphate the your bones are made of. There are no chemicals or plastic type coatings with this.

You have to admit it would be amazing to only have to take 1 pill a week on a slow controlled release as opposed to everyday.

The 1 pill a day would be awesome, because it would almost eliminate all drug seekers. There will just be pain management. That is as long as the pill can not be defeated. It will only work if the pill can not be defeated. From what I have read on various forums, the addicts love to tinker with tamper proof pills. They find that to be half of the thrill. There are some weird people out there.

It is just funny how most of the addicts figured out how to dissolve the Polyox in the Oxy ER's. I would be open to the ceramics as long as they are not a health risk. I am also with you bill, I am not too concerned with the plastic killing me. I was just doing some research because I read that the new formulation of the Oxy's were not as effective as they used to be. I found it to be suitable for me with a low tolerance and I am most definitely not looking for a high.

The new formulation of Oxycontin was not, I was one of the CP'ers that got caught in that change. I had been on Oxycontin successfully for 3 yrs. and within a month of using the new coating Oxy's I was in the hospital for a week on a Fentanyl drip trying to get all the illnesses that cause the various types of Chronic pain I have to get back under control. That's when I switched back to Morphine or MS Contin.

We had people, and I knew many from several support boards, I used to be a Moderator on one back then, people would pass the pills whole through their systems, literally find the pills in the toilet. (sorry gross reference) Their gastric systems weren't strong enough to disolve the coating....it was just not a good situation.

And Jeremy like you said, it was just a bigger thrill, bigger challenge for the druggies to get through the coating and get into the actual narcotic.

Those whose intent is less than honorable will always find a way to thwart the protections put in place to safe guard the innocent.
