Hi friends. I am finally in a position to be able to play catch up. I have been home from the hospital for about 3 weeks. I have been on oxygen 24/7 until last week. I started taking my oxygen levels after being off it all day and found my levels had stabilized back to pre-op levels. When I wrote additions to my last "nightmare" post I wasn't kidding. The last few days in the hospital were terrible. They wouldn't let me leave without having oxygen and a hospital bed in my home. We actually had to show the receipt. I left the hospital on May 4 and have had home health care this whole time. My O2 levels were really low and I was on oxygen for 2 out of 3 weeks. The Pt was rough since I was in so much pain and I am being weaned off the dilaudid. I watch the clock when it gets close to pill time because of the pain I still feel. Yesterday I forgot to take my pill from 8am and by 7pm I was in agony to the point of feeling sick to my stomach. So even though it has been a month the pain can be relentless but I just wanted to touch base with my wonderful friends.
I don't think I can be back full time but I did want you all yo know what was going on.
I am monitoring posts but only answer a select few. I really love you all and thank you so much for caring. If this post sounded rambling it is the dilaudid affecting me and for that I apologize.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Take care,

Your first three weeks sound like a nightmare and very scary.
Pain seems to be still with you and I can't imagine that changing
A lot in the next two weeks. There must be some kind of time frame.
There is always a day to day improvement hopefully. I don't know as I haven't had your neck surgery. You might not know either since this is a different one, At least inflammation should be down. There should be some bone growth and each day should be better.
The use of arm I imagine is going to take awhile. That position not good for healing of neck and brings on pain.
Wishing you continued healing my friend. Hope you have enough friend phone # for support system. I am PM mine just in case. You never know.

I know it has to be hard each moment, but know there is a day coming when you will feel better. Hope each day brings you closer to relief in that healing.
