My c6 and c7 did not fuse properly due to medications I had been on forever for RA. Were u on any meds that could have caused it?

I am really sorry that the fusion wasn't successful. That has to be such a hard thing to go through.
I really hope that it can be fixed so you will be able to have a successful fusion. I am sorry it means you having to have yet another surgery.

I wish I had answers for you to why this fusion didn't 'take'.

I have not had any fusions done though it has been said that I need it in my feet. It is something I am not willing to do anytime soon. My feet are a 'mess' according to what my doc said and looking at my x-rays. They cause me pain but willing to put up with it for now.
I had my knees replaced last year. That was enough to deal with for a while.

I really hope for better days for you and you get answers and things get sorted out.

How upsetting! I'm pretty sure we have several people who've had failed fusions, I don't think it's that uncommon, unfortunately. They can give you more information than I can, but I wanted you to know that you have my sympathy.

Thank you for all if your kind words. @mustlovecats the only medication I take daily is thyroid meds. I rarely even take any OTC medication. I have done physical therapy & been very careful to follow Dr instructions on no bending lifting twisting. So frustrated right now. My body is defective, I have had so many other surgeries over the last 11 years its ridiculous. Neck fusion being one of them & it turned out great. But almost every other "optional" organ has been removed. I'm just so ready to be done with having surgeries almost every freaking year. Sorry venting momment.

yes I have four years ago then this feb I had another on my l3 and 4 to me it failed the pain is stilll there down my legs and my but I have rods have to sleep in hospital bed raised for the rest of my life sorry your having so much trouble sldo I know it hard so hard at time your in my thoughts and prayers kathyjo

There are many people on here who have had failed fusions and/or failed SCS implants.

I don't have any personal experience to share as I have refused all surgery to this point.

I do know from research that sometimes it depends on the type of fusion that was done. Cadaver bone often fails to my knowledge. Also, it depends on your body. It most likely is nothing you had control over. As hard as it must be for you, please don't blame yourself.

There is no rhyme or reason why any of us suffer the way that we do or have what we have. Not to single out anyone but, it seems to me that us "weird back people" have a claim in that thought as well.

Maybe another surgery is not the option for you, maybe it is. Whatever you choose, make sure that you are doing it for YOU and for no one else. Don't feel obligated to your docs or your family/friends/job.

I would be concerned having another surgery when two previous ones have not done well or failed.

Bottome line, I am so very sorry that you have had to go through this. When we place all of our hope, faith and trust in a "sure fix" and it does not work--it is like getting kicked in the face. HUGS and much support to you.

Because my spine was already a nasty mess back in '03, the ortho I had at that time told me to never allow any kind of surgery it was just to risky and this guy was a world renowned back surgeon!!!
I've heard over the years that so many people have had that
failure and then repeated surgeries trying to fix things, again:(:(

I'm ever so sorry this happened to you and surely can understand your frustration and disappointment!!! This has been a gosh awful road to travel:(:(

This is a very difficult decision for you but as was already said, you need to do what you believe is best for you in the long run....I hope this not something you have to make a "rush" decision on as well.
