Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I usually get those Fred Flintstone bumps that swell and pulse after I hurt myself somehow.
Is a medication causing this? Or a medical condition? Have you seen a doctor about it?
Both Lyrica & Humira made my feet and ankles swell. Had to stop taking them.
Best of luck.
So Sorry you are dealing with this. I know how much it can hurt and be uncomfortable!
I used to think, if anyone could see what I have to go thru just to get the damn swelling down, they'd laugh their asses off, because I know It cracked me up all the time.
I too have my birkenstalks for those days, and yes Blaine, sometimes, when I could get socks on, I would make It look like I really wanted to wear those fugly shoes, but they do work (lol)
Hope you feet feel better.
Hugs
Mary Ellen

Don't sweat the small stuff.
I can't believe Marci has 12 prs of them!
Anyone grow up in the 70's? Anyone have that groovy shag carpet in your house? Well... we sure did. In the "playroom" the carpet was a regular carpet but around this tacky huge bar... the carpet was GREEN ... yes green SHAG carpet that was the color and almost the texture of GRASS> I don't know what my mom was thinking but it couldn't have looked anymore like a park --
Did our dogs use the pee pee papers that were on the OTHER side of the room? Heck no! They went to the park!
SO... after stepping in peeps and poops SO MANY times... I started wearing slippers or shoes and would never go barefoot. I still wear something on my feet. LOL
Have you discussed this with your doctor?
I hope you find a way besides the obvious (cut out salt, elevate legs, drink lots of water unless you have CHF).
Man, lol, Fred Feet.
Hiero-- LMAO Yes! I literally had a cartoon pulsating thumb thing happen - night before we got married, we went out to a casino. The hotel had a defective chair ( kinda older bar stool / chair ) the top part was supposed to be snapped down with these big snaps to the rest of the chair. Somehow (when I hoped up on the stool) ... I put my fingers in the space between top and bottom so that when I went to hop up to sit down... I sat down and the chair snapped my thumb in between BAM! OUCHIE WA WA! My husband to be ... had to lift me up and off the chair so I could get my thumb out... the next day while getting married I had to hold my thumb UP because it was pulsating with blood and all I could think of were those cartoons - HA -surprised that it really does feel that way! hHAAHAHA ( well, I wasn't amused that day cause it really really did hurt. ) Who knew??
Lladyfair, you are cracking me up about the houseshoes and the green shag carpet! I grew up in the 70's also, and we had avocado green shag carpet and dark wood paneled walls....lol and I remember our bright orange recliner on that carpet. Oh and we had matching avocado kitchen appliances.
Nothing wrong with wearing houseshoes! I wear my plaid Mukluks around town...so comfy on cold days. I have to admit that I just had to google "Birkenstocks", because I wasn't sure what they were, and sure enough, I have some tan corduroy clogs just like them, only they are American Eagle ones....and I did have some of those chunky sandle ones, lol. I wear those clogs all the time.
Llady, I hope your fluid retention isn't serious or something new going on with you. I have to agree with Dianna on the advice to limit salt, etc., but be sure to talk to your dr. Hope you get it resolved soon!
You made my morning! We have to laugh or we'll cry, right?
I remember right after my son was born, my lupus went insane and between the pregnancy (and pre--eclampsia) and the lupus my feet were the size of watermelons. And our health insurance insisted I had to come in person and sign the papers to get our son on our coverage. I tried to explain on the phone what my medical condition was but of course, they never get it. I actually went there barefoot because even flip-flops wouldn't fit. Boy were they embararassed!
Over the years I've had my collection of footwear depending on my foot size. Now, I have the opposite problem. Since I have RSD in my right foot, I have no feeling in it and shoes will fall off at the most inopportune time. I actually left a shoe in my SILs driveway last Thanksgiving - she drove the hour over to return it. I didn't have the heart to tell her I'd never wear them again because it was simply too big. I have to start shopping for very narrow shoes at the back but the rest of my foot is normal width so it's going to be hard- especially on my Walmart budget.
And Lori, I have you beat We had ORANGE shag carpet in our house with paneling throughout and brown appliances with indoor-outdoor carpet in our kitchen. What were my parents thinking? (At least the paneling in my room was light and wasn't dark and dank like the rest of the house- except for the fact that my brother painted his room totally black as a teenager. Who would have thought he would have grown up to be the NJ assistant supervisor for probation services? He should have turned out to be a meth dealer.
Sandy
Hi fay! I have always wondered if those fluid pills work for swelling... did it help you?
LOL tendons!
LOL irocket... don't sweat the small stuff? I agree and so do my sweaty sausage feet stuffed in shoes that are too small. :)
Hi gr8ful! Like you said ...cut out salt, elevate legs, drink lots of water ... if it doesn't get better in a week... I will call and ask doc.
lorilynn... Ha HA hA YES! Not only was the shag baaaaad but the COLORS!? WOW- what were people thinking!? We had indoor park poop grass right in our very own home!
njs...ah yesss the good 'ole wood paneling! Light or dark? Either way it was just so darn beautiful! ;)
