Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I am really excited to hear about your injections. Where does he plan to do them? My daughter is still suffering terribly. It seems like a lot of her issue is coming from muscle spasms in her neck. We are going back to the ortho tomorrow to try to investigate why she is getting them. There has to be a cause.
Did he tell you how long it will take before you feel relief? I know my neurologist uses botox in some injections.
Do you have a link for the relaxation meditation?
It says of the Botox that it takes a few days to a few weeks to notice and lasts a few months. The injections will go across my forehead and down the left side of my head and neck where the migraines reside.
Paulina. the link is http://www.carmha.ca/relaxation-audio
I haven't listened yet.
congrats

I hope the Botox will give you great relief!

Catastrophizing is not uncommon for CPrs bc at times it sure feels like the pain controls or paints over everything! One series by Shinzen Young on meditation for pain has helped me quite a lot. My pain psych recommends it. Not only is there the typical breath awareness, but he guides you through identifying where your pain feels strongest (primary) and where it is secondary. He also talks about naming your emotional reactions to pain areas which is for me a kind of validation.. Anyway, it has helped me through those times when the migraine pain is overwhelms my arsenal :0 The site soundstrue.com has his stuff, including sample tracks. I was able to use interlibrary loan to get another of his books.
Good luck with everything! Migraines stink :( I wish you well, Raggedy
I am glad you and the doctor made a connection as that is really important and I try all treatments even if they are something as small as listening to some audio as I think it can not hurt any and you never know.
When I have really bad nerve pain my doctor has showed me how to bend into a pretzel to help relieve it and it is sort of funny but I do it and it helps.
So this is the beginning of the end, let's hope.
I'm sure you feel better just knowing there is a plan.
Hugs,
Ama
I hope they can povide the relief you deserve.
Hugs,
David.
