I had an EMG on my feet yesterday, just thought I'd share my experience.
I'm needle phobic & took 2mg of lorazepam and didn't watch and it kept me calm. Everything happens quickly once the contacts are set up.
The statement that it's uncomfortable is pretty accurate, it's like when bugs bunny gets shocked and they show his cartoon bunny skeleton, it feels like that looks. The shocks were really quick. I did have a little pain when they did the tops of my feet, but it was extremely brief.
My tests came out negative, we were looking for the source of my left foot pain. The Pain Management doctor said it must be some nerves that are sending the wrong signals. He made suggestions to take back to my primary care doctor to see if they'll write the prescriptions :-p

I've had 3 EMG's and I can tell you that I did not like any of them! Mine came back positive and my SCS keeps me walking, since before my SCS I was walking with a walker. One thing that confuse me, why will your pain management Doctor, wants you to go to your primary for pain management, is'nt that what he does????
I find that really odd, take care and I hope that you can get your PCP to give you meds that will work with your foot pain. Take care,
@tipper1207 - It seemed odd to me, what they said was they only prescribe for cancer patients. Otherwise they want prescriptions going through the Primary care so that they can catch any conflicting medications.
SCS came up in the conversation as an option if none of the medications work out.
I hope that your doctor will be able to pinpoint what is going on with you so that you'll be able to find something that will help.
Isn't it frustrating to have something wrong but not know the origin or cause? Am praying with you that God, the Great Physician, shines the light on the area of your body causing you discomfort.
