That really sucks that you have to go out in those conditions. Is it possible maybe they would schedule for a couple days later due to conditiions? Just a thought.
I understand why you need to go but it's so bad out. I wish you the best tomorrow. Please be careful.

Thanks Paula. I can't reschedule b/c their position is, most patients today took up all the open spots later this week. They feel that if the docs can get in, I can. But I live an hour away. (Long story involving my pain doc dying 3 years ago & this kind doc taking me in, despite the drive.)

So, in a few hours I'm up to get ready, then out the door. I can only pray that the snow stops and the roads are clear enough. Luckily (I hope) the main route is on the freeway. But I'm preparing for any possibility.

My worry is the wind. We think my hubby's satellite dish may have started slipping. Thank God it's only HIS tv, not ours. He has the extra for European football. ;) But we'll know more when I leave at 7am, which is about 10 hours away.

I guess if I lived closer, I wouldn't mind so much, but we'd talked about this possibility so often! If I;d known they were staying open despite everything else staying closed, I would've tried driving halfway today, or all the way, before temps plummet more. But, hopefully all will be well. I have to think positive. :)

just hope the car starts and pray you have four wheel drive or All wheel drive vehicle...those are a little better in snow....

could sick hubby get his sick ass out of bed to get you there? I mean really? I know sick is not fun but stuck in snow bank is deadly deal in this type of temps...do you have cell phone and AAA? I do...they save me every time....

Shame drs still don't make house calls! Have a safe and adventuresome trip to the drs! You know I heard something recently about drs actually making diagnosis over the phone :O Not a good thing probably.......

Thanks all- I made it home BARELY. I left at 650am and my appt was at 915. Normally it takes me about 40 minutes in traffic to get there. It took 2 hours and 20 minutes there, with black ice on I-94 which REALLY threw me, and the road I take to the doc's was CLOSED. Thank God for GPS b/c I am, have been & will always be directionally challenged. I arrived with minutes to go. Usually I arrive 45- an hour EARLY!

The drive home started okay but there were so many cars in the snow on either side that you never knew where you'd be down to 2 lanes, or if either lane would be safe. The worst was near where I live. I was clutching the wheel so tight that my shoulders are STILL hunched forward and hurting like a SOB.

I finally put in some of my favorite music to relax me and get my mind off the fear. Thank God for the Rent Soundtrack or I might've given up and pulled off to a hotel. The drive HOME took 3 hours and 10 minutes exactly! I looked & felt like I should be committed for extreme agitation!

But the kicker was when I was driving there. It was still dark, we were all going about 20 mph on the freeway, when my phone rang. It was the office saying I could reschedule if I needed to b/c I lived a bit further away. I thanked them, said I was going to keep going & see what happened. I didn't have much of a choice as I had rescheduled this appt b/c I had stomach flu/food poisoning last week when I was supposed to be seen. I would've been out of one of the meds.

I've been driving since 16. I learned to drive in WI winter, and took my test in a heavy snowfall. Over all these years I've never seen anything as bad as yesterday. Police everywhere b/c people didn't GET that you can't drive on ICE like you drive on the road. I lost count of the cars wrecked, completely- there were 9 accidents in the 1st 20 minutes. I stopped counting then & tried to concentrate.

But my very sick DH did get up and shovel the walk AND the driveway at 330am! If not, I'd never have gotten out. His fever was 101.6 when he went out, and gone when he came in, at least for a few minutes. It was CRAZY COLD! And our babysitter was supposed to show at 8 but was in an accident that left her car in a drift. She's fine, but I feel bad about that.

Now, I wake up to hear my 4 yr old coughing so hard it scared me. He caught DH's crud and has a fever and all that goes with it. Thank God it's ANOTHER Snow Day! Yep- 3rd day in a row that our district called it. I understand the 1st 2, but now the roads are better and they're just being silly. At least Jaden won't miss anything. Now I have to figure out how to care for him while DH returns to work and I'm in the midst of an RSD flare.

Life sucks sometimes but after yesterday, I realized how GLAD I am that it goes on! :)

Glad your safe and warm now. Sorry Jayden is sickie pooh... Hope you dont get it from him. GOD bless your hubby getting out of bed sick to shovel you out. :-)

Glad you are home safe-too bad the drs hadn't called to reschedule a little earlier and just call in a refill for you!

Thanks- am home safe but now both 4yr old and I are sick too. Ugh. The prescriptions couldn't be called in- but that would've been nice in an emergency. :)
