I had a perfect storm of neuralgia pain and a flare in hands and feet
( nerve stuff from Lupas..or RSD spread depending on who you ask).
Speaking of asking..I have an appointment with new ( possibly..I'll decide after I see her) rheumy today.
So..I spent yesterday with both my husband and daughter poised all day to give me a ride to the polls.....waiting to just feel well enough to get ready to go....trying to determine if it would make it impossible to get to appointment today if I pushed it yesterday.
It doesn't matter ( in this context).. who I would have voted for.
Yesterday was just a perfect example to me of the randomness of the disruption of our lives by pain. It just happened to be one of my worse pain days in a while. It just happened to be election day.
I come from a military family...
I believe it's not just a privilege but a responsibility to vote.
And...I didn't. ( I would say I couldn't..but..I could have pushed it and taken my chances on missing my appointment today.)
The point of this post?
Well..I don't really know.
Maybe just that...regardless of who you voted for..
If you were fortunate enough to have voted..
You won a little battle in our war against pain, didn't you?
If I'm around for the next election..I'll for sure be voting early..
Not waiting because it feels more real when you go to vote on election day.
I'm disappointed in myself.
I hope those of you who voted are proud of themselves..no matter who they voted for.

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I did get a chance to vote. I know here if you have any problems you can get to the front of the line, all you have to do is ask and tell them you have limitations.
I know here early voting, the lines were long also. I had to wait about 30 mins and had chairs to sit in, so I was lucky.
don't take it hard, I have missed elections because of pain.

This is a perfect example of why the states need to get up to 2012 and make it easier to vote electronically. We pay our bills on line, we file for SS on line, why can't we vote on-line? I know it has to do with the higher chance of voter fraud, but there must be a way for it to be done.
I hope the government gets off their fannies and does something about this!
I missed an election in 1998 because I had just had my son and was in a major lupus flare. I felt so bad, as you do. But if you can't physically get out to the polls, then what can you do?
