I am ROYALLY pissed. I just read over some of it and they flat out lied saying what I can do... And when I am doing and what I've done in the past. Maybe it's the lawyers fault, but I am pissed.

so sorry that you were denied....I had SSD when I was mentally ill and I got it the first time...my dad took it on himself to file for it...of course I was in the hospital then for 18months in row....so sorry your beginning to give up hope....here is a little hug for you today....hugs bill

My doctor told me it was easier to get it for mental. So go that way if it helps you.
I don't know.... this just reeks and I am mad for you. And for all of us. But especially the ones trying to get ssi. I haven't tried because I don't want to go through this, don't know that I could.

I think I have finally landed in the land of de -nile where all the little alligators play all day and I just sit and watch.
The land O de-nile isn't so bad..... it just doesn't seem real sometimes.

It took me almost 4 years to get SSD. I had to go through a hearing after my 3rd denial. It was one of the worst things that has happened in my life. A good lawyer means all the difference in the world. Just be sure NOT to pick one from the SSA's list of disability lawyers.

Keep fighting. If you have MH issues, use them to your advantage. Along with lupus and fibro, my lawyer made sure that depression and anxiety were included in my case. My psychiatrist at the time wrote the most compelling letter of all my doctors.

And of course SSA will lie about your condition. I actually had to go to a SSA doctor and she stated that I was a faker and a cheat. She actually wrote that in her report! But I documented the whole visit, how she didn't even examine me and the only question she asked was if I could touch my toes. That is typical SSA doctors- they work for SSA and will do anything they can to make it seem like you're not disabled. It is a crime what is happening to disabled people. And the people associated with SSA ae the criminals. A bunch of thugs.

I was denied a few months ago with them saying that because I have not worked in the last 5 months and my husband makes to much money ,, well heck he works 2 jobs just to get us through. I see my husband about 3 hours a day and sometimes not even that. sometimes we are just passing each other and using the phone.

I have been there, but do I need something from a doctor in writing saying it will last a year or longer?

I was denied unemployment because I did not have a doctor's statement and it was classified as a "personal problem".

I'm sorry you got turned down for disability... mental health does tend to get fast tracked, however with so many people out of work the claims for disability have gone up. Thus slowing the system to a crawl.

your in school SSA will hold that against you as its a form of work, and if your pulling good grades ect...are you active on campus...
they will fault you for every positive thing you have going for you. you young a age that SSA likes is 50 that's when they tend to agree that retraining you or getting better isn't an option. I've read that in SSI for dummies.Sadly... they also want you spend down everything you have. SSA really wants to have nothing left when you get to their door step and a paper trail to help move your case along.

from what I've been hearing it takes 3-5yrs to get on at present unless you have something that will fast track you. A few yrs ago I would say keep fighting for it just for the insurance alone but if you can go to school and Obamacare does go into effect in 2014 then I'd say try and make it given that you have an education going for you and preexisting won't be an issue.

please know that I am not trying to make you feel worst the opposite but thinking back on the road I took of getting on SSD at 19 it was the only option I had for healthcare. it's a hard road to be handed SSD and told okay here's you small amount of money and insurance (also it getting harder to find drs who take it or get the right meds) and say good luck. its a hard road balancing rent, foodstamps, food pantries, heating assistance, trying to keep a old car running. ect....

I really wish you nothing than the best, if you want any help let me know..I've recently had my mother get into the system after 3yrs and a few friends.

A lot of people are denied 2 or 3 times and it does take a good lawyer. Time for a new one. Good luck and I'm glad you at least had a good time at the party.

I don't know about the whole lawyer deal, i applied online for both myself and my father in law. We were both approved the first try, and we both got our submissions approved in less than 3 months.

I am not saying this to brag, or to throw it in anyone's face. I say this because I believe the most important part of getting approved is being overlooked on this post. Its not the lawyer... Its the documents...

My wife works in the medical field and she has seen countless people apply, and what she told me was also confirmed by a case worker at the SSA.

You have to have tons of documentation on your conditions, complete copies of your medical history, and of course you absolutely have to have a diagnosis.

Also you need to have as many of your doctors as you can fill out RFT paperwork for you. It is almost impossible to be approved on your first try if you do not have this one simple form. You can get these forms from the SSA office and what it is, is a residual function test. Basically your doctor does a physical on you and questions you and fills out this packet, what this packet does is explains what you can currently do as apposed to what you should be able to do.

most doctors charge from $100 to $400 to fill out this paperwork, but honestly i asked 3 doctors to fill them out for me and i was never charged a dime from any of them for it, perhaps im lucky, i dont know but thats what happened.

The way you application is processed is it goes to an examiner that reviews all your paperwork, and if your paperwork answers all their questions then 9 times out of 10 you get approved. The SSA is so busy that if they get your file and everything is laid out before them on paper, it is quite easy for them to stamp it approved.

If you records are shoddy or incomplete they pass you on to an investigator, who passes you to a different dept, who then sends you to their quack doctors and well.... we all know how that goes....

I hope this small rant offers someone some insight and a little help, if anyone has any questions feel free to ask, i will answer what i can, and help in any way i can...
