Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

It seems like problems just pile on top of one another sometimes. I'm just going to list out my current things that comprise my chronic pain.
Lower back pain
Hip pain
Headaches
Knee pain
Sciatica
Neck pain
Sometimes the sciatica pain and knee pain are at a point where I find myself with a limp momentarily. The pain in the legs seems to be aggravated more when I'm driving, I assume due to the position that they have to stay in. The hip pain is mostly when standing or walking. Everything else seems to be more random/not known. What bothers me sometimes is hearing about how "young" I am to be having these problems. My doctor had just told me that the last time I seen him, I mentioned my knee pain since it had gotten worse. He told me that "you're young to have this problem" or something along those lines. It really is quite troublesome though regardless of the age.
Just needed to vent and get my thoughts typed out..

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

With your PKD, lower back pain is usually a symptom of that for some people, not sure what they'd be able to do for that.
Hip pain and sciatica could be from an injury, having scans done is really the only way to see whats going on there.
Neck Pain and Headaches can be linked. I don't know what your taking for the headaches, but overtaking med can cause rebound headaches, so you have to be careful with OTC pain kllers and narcotics...neither do a whole lot for chronic headaches or headaches that are actually migraines.
For the Headaches you should be seeing a Neurologist: Headache Specialist
For the Knee Pain, Hip Pain, you should be see an Orthopedist.
For the Back, Sciatica and Neck, Pain you should see a back Dr.
This way we've gotten into where we go to 1 Dr. and expect them to fix or manage everything just doesn't work. Dr.'s are trained as Specialist, the each work on a certain part of the body.....
I hope you find some help among the specialist that you need to see.
I am so sorry about your pain and your doctor's attitude. Do they really think they are making us feel better by saying we are young? I have heard that all my life and now I am almost 60, and I am still being told that. What BS.
It does seem to pile up sometimes. Are you able to find a pool that you can walk in? It might help move those joints with less pain. Even though it hurts, if we don't keep moving, the joints will start freezing up. My ankle is frozen and they are manually forcing it to move. That is painful. But they say once we get it moving again the pain will be less. I hope they are correct.
Vent anytime you need too. It is better to vent, than to let it build up inside. Sending lots of positive energy and prayers.

PKD doesn't just come out of nowhere .
What is your diet like? Do you sleep well? Are you obese? Do you engage in regular physical activity? Is your depression under good control? Do you feel happy as a human being? Have you had a full work up for food allergies?
In my experience doctors are too eager to write off pain as a symptom of uncontrolled depression
I have seen a neurologist for my headaches and he said he doesn't see anything wrong that would be causing them. I've seen an orthopedic for my back and the only thing they did was recommend surgery really. I've had an xray done recently of my knees and the results were that they are normal. I've had MRIs done on multiple areas of my body including my brain, back, and kidneys.
RJ I don't think people necessarily mean any harm with saying that, but they don't seem to understand how it sounds coming from someone else I suppose.
Thanks Bill, I try to keep that in mind, it's just that other people tend to stereotype me as "youthful and strong" often I suppose because they do not know the pain I really do go through on a pretty regular basis. It just makes me feel like I'm not as "up to par" as I should.
Annette, I do try to find the humor in things as well, anything to lighten my increasingly dark mood.
Aronia, no obesity here, I'm quite skinny in fact, PKD is a genetic thing, so it's by birth and it's just something I've had to deal with. I've tried to make some slight changes to my diet in order to not harm my kidneys anymore than they already are. A good part of my depression comes from all the pain I'm dealing with, so it's not exactly under control I'd say. By sleep well I assume you mean a set schedule of a certain amount of hours per day and if that's the case then no I do not.
