Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

I'm trying SO hard to hold it together. It started with a head cold. Sinusitis is truly a pain for me as I have abnormally large sinus cavities. (My dentists over the years can't stop talking about it!)
I have RSD in my left foot and lower leg and THAT has been a mess b/c of the cold weather of late. I thought this was about as bad as if could get. Then, last week, I THOUGHT I felt a kidney stone. Those who have multiple can tell you that sometimes you get the killer stones, the ones that send you to the ER and into the hospital, and sometimes you get the ones that are annoying but don't hurt as bad. THAT is what I felt last week.
Now it's Tuesday, and my weekend in Canada ended badly with me driving in a snowstorm out of the country (7 minutes to get over the bridge) to Detroit, where they'd failed to plow the damned roads! Now, from there to home in normal weather is about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. In THAT weather, it is about twice that. I KNEW I couldn't manage that and was thrilled when MGM Grand had a room available the night before the Superbowl that was affordable b/c I stay with their hotels a lot for work.
I must've looked a fright and I explained when I checked in that I didn't care what floor they put me on, I JUST needed a bathtub! (Soaking in a hot tub is one thing I CAN do to help the pain.) Now, their rooms all have huge walk-in showers but the kind man behind the desk managed to upgrade me to a corner suite, comp me a fridge for my water, and walk me to my suite. The bathroom not only had a tub, but a jacuzzi tub that was so deep & long that my head kept slipping down, LOL. And IN the mirror was a TV! THAT is how to battle a kidney stone.
On top of that, the wonderful suite had the best bed and I've been in some of the best hotels in the world- it's my job! I slept off/on as pain allowed, drank my water, and took 7 jacuzzis! Now I just wish I were back b/c damn, that sure helped!
But now I'm home, battling the same head cold, same RSD pain and yes, oddly enough, a kidney stone. It's very weird b/c I 1st felt it on the left side, but now it's all on my right! My huge stone that is getting operated on in April is on the right side. But the pain isn't crippling like my last 3 stones, it's just there.
It occurred to me that I might be super constipated- that it could cause some of the same symptoms, but I've had bowel movements. Can you have a serious fecal impaction AND still have BMs?I know many CP patients have trouble with constipation and fecal impactions. Maybe I'm worrying excessively, but I do wonder if my kidney stone or stones are having trouble passing b/c of constipation. I know that before you have the surgery that zaps the stone, docs say they can see more if you're not constipated.
Maybe it's lack of proper sleep or worrying b/c I had to reschedule my CP doc today (almost unheard of!) b/c of this stone. There's just no way I could drive in my condition. But I rescheduled for Thursday and am determined to pass this thing.
In addition: one more odd complaint: I've got an upset stomach. I've had it since Thursday off/on and wonder what it is. I'm not throwing up, I'm even eating a bit, but it's like a stomach ache that won't go away.
I keep waiting to see what is going to happen as with stones, they either pass or cause trouble. And again, I feel pain in my right AND left side and my lower back. I'm very tired and could easily sleep now but don't want to be awake all night. Besides, I'm drinking lemonade for the stones and it gave me heartburn so I can't lay all the way down. Ugh!
I don't know what I'm doing but my ears are ringing, my sinuses hurt, my foot is on fire and I have pains all over my back and front, especially my lower back. I HATE complaining! This is SO not me. But I just can't let my friends know how truly bad this IS. I don't want pity. And I KNOW my friends here have gone through the same or worse and understand where I am coming from.
Okay, back to the bath. It's not a luxury jacuzzi but at least I have a tub. It helps me relax. What a week!

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

But..givin' you some anyway.
When I saw your topic title..
I thought..
Yuck.
What a horrid combination.
Ha! I always wondered if dentist saying I had the largest sinus cavities they'd ever seen was a subtle way of saying..
"We can tell you ...have a drug history".. ( OK...yeh..that was me being subtle:-)
Now I know. Nope..there really is such a thing..:-)
( and, yes it does make sinus problems horrible.)
I hope you get some relief, of something, soon.
Hugs

I tried it because I thought I might have lesions from Lupus in my nose..
Almost cried from how it burned.
JIC & Ann-What would I have snorted- I don't get it? My dentist said that I had abnormally large sinus cavities long before I had to take pills for RSD, as did the dentist before her. It was a family things as My Mom and I saw the same dentist. (It is inherited on her side.) Large sinus cavities are inherited, not created, But I STIL don't know what I was supposed to be snorting. My meds are all oral.
Sorry, I just didn't understand that part. I've never done an illegal drug, never even smoked a cigarette, I was a goody 2 shoes. So how would that mean I have a drug history?
From high school I remember that we learned about cocaine being a snortable drug and I remember that scene in Scarface. But what does it have to do with a large sinus cavity?
I'm afraid your post confused me. Now I'm wondering if I'd get it if only I could get some sleep!
Once again, I'm sorry your having so much going on right now and I hope you find some relief soon.
You actually don't get enlarged sinuses from anything but birth ( being born that way) as far as I know.
Have you gotten any rest?
Hugs

I am feeling a bit better after 10 solid hours of sleep! I woke to find a snow drift had blocked our door and had to go out, kidney stone and all, and shovel it away, plus a path to the road for my son & I to get to school bus. After he got on I was so tired I collapsed!
I'm going to bed early as my shoulders and back are on fire from the shoveling and my RSD foot is a mess. I see my pain doc tomorrow and pray the stone is passed. I didn't strain the urine last night but I haven't felt it move in hours. I had my DH bring me a huge beef sandwich which is a treat around here from a local deli. THAT helped my digestive system and THAT helped me a lot. I need to learn to cook, or eat more meat. For some reason that's the one thing that helps the constipation that crops up from time to time on the meds.
So today I'm tired but got sleep, and hoping the weather behaves so I can make the drive to my CP doc. I already had to reschedule once yesterday- doing so again wouldn't be good. Now if the stone has passed, I should be okay. Sudafed and tylenol helped the sinus pressure and phenergan helped the nausea and put me to sleep. That medication is amazing to me.
Thanks all- hopefully tomorrow I'll be happily home from my pain doc and ready for bed. As for me now, I'm again, ready for bed at 515pm! Just glad the snow is gone for now!
Toddler's more work.
( I know..four is older than toddler..but..still applies, as you know.)
