Hi guys- sorry I've been out for awhile. I've had a terrible sinus infection that drained the life out of me. In fact, I'm wondering if anyone else here is battling fatigue with CP?
I've had bad sinusitis all my life. My Mom & her Dad had it and even my dentist said I had the largest sinus cavities of any female he'd ever seen. So I guess I have a lot of room for trouble.
For 3 month off & on I've dealt with crippling headaches, nausea and ear aches. My doctor has dropped to 2 Fridays a month, leaving me without a family doctor. He's booked through Sept!
I HATE new docs but when I saw the PA at my PM doc on Monday, even she could see how bad I looked. She asked if I had pink eye! I explained the situation and she was very kind. She encouraged me to see my doc's partners. I went today and he was kind. He said I had a sinus infection, fluid in the ears, infected eye and red throat. He prescribed Ciproflaxin HCL 500mg, one twice a day. Then he added Flonase (never used it before) and asked if I wanted prednisone for my asthma. No, I said. I'm just trying to get back to a place where I can handle my RSD AND the sinusitis.
Trouble is, I hate taking new medications. Flonase goes in the nose- something that bothers me. I can use saline spray there or nose spray to unclog the nose, but I don't know what Flonase is. What if it interacts with RSD meds or decongestants?
I'm flying to NYC next Friday and need to be well. I can rest this weekend but beyond that I have loads to do. My RSD is not so bad at the moment and I am glad for it. But my headaches and nausea and swollen eyes are driving me batty. I can't even think straight.
Does having CP, and mind you I've had RSD for 17 years this time, mean that you are susceptible to other illnesses? I have kidney stones in both kidneys. I have acid reflux, insomnia, and sinus troubles. Today the new doctor asked me if I considered the sinus headaches "migraines" b/c I mentioned I get nauseous. Yes, I have 2 kinds of headaches- sinus migraines and the other kind. The other kind come on faster but are controlled easier.
I just feel SO bad telling my son who just turned 5 that I'm sick again. He was not being careful and bouncing on my bed and I told him to stop, that Mommy is very sick. He looked at me as if to say, "You're always sick!" In fact just yesterday morning when I woke him he asked me if I was better yet. He shouldn't have to worry about me.
I'm just SO down and SO tired. I feel drained. I needed a can of cola to get some caffeine this morning- I mean, I needed it! I couldn't open my left eye so my right eye wanted to close too. I don't like using caffeine to wake up but I had no choice.
I hate feeling like a downer! I'm always telling people to look on the bright side but dammit, I'm SOOOO tired of all this. If it's not RSD then it's something related. Now it is the worst infections I've ever had. My ears hurt and make me dizzy, my nose is stuffy which makes me crazy, and my face is pounding. Am I ever going to feel normal again? I really hate this downer crap.
Oh well, time for some pill, I'm sure. I feel like all I do is take pills. Usually they work well for RSD and I KNOW I am lucky my doctor takes care of me and that I don't need stronger meds or higher doses. I guess I felt that for once, I could get a few days off? Just a few days w/o anything wrong, with the RSD under control, would be Heaven.
I know I'm by far one of the luckiest people here. But today I am sick, tired, and hurt. I just hope the antibiotic works.
Sorry for the Debbie Downer stuff- I'm just so...down.

I know that I can't list all that is wrong with me anymore. I don't even try to remember the names. It is not worth the energy. And Energy is something that I have precious little of!

In regards to Flonase I had a friend that used it for allergies & seemed to do fine. I'm a big fan of homeopathic remedies & one I just tried after having a horrible cold & now allergies is Zicam extreme congestion. This is a Nasal gel you squirt two drops into each nostril & sniff. I can honestly say you really can't even feel the gel when you squirt it in. The only tiny effect is a very mild stinging that lasts but a few seconds. This stuff is amazing it totally cleared my head for close to 10-11hrs. Your supposed to use it every twelve hrs. You can get it at any drug store Walmart, Walgreens, Target etc. it is in a green & white box. You can double check with the pharmacist but I'm about positive it can be used with any other med, however I wouldn't use this in conjunction with the Flonase. I had one other friend that used the Flonase & felt it made the heart best faster. IMHO I would use the Zicam hands down. Also if you feel yourself coming down with a cold use the Zicam in the orange & white box if you use it within the first 24hrs of cold symptoms it not only lessons the severity but also the duration. I hope this helps and you feel better soon. I'm sending up prayers for healing & comfort. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

Ps your right it's hard on children when they see mommy or daddy sick a lot. Children are resilient & I'm sure your little guys gets more than his share of hugs from you. Love is the best medicine if all :)
