NO! I have been on Methadone for almost 2 years now and that was the first thing that my PM Doc told me, absolutely NO alcohol while taking Methadone.

thats what i thought. I knwo we have talked about this before, but how did you feel when first starting this med? do you have to take something for breakthrough pain, what and how much? thanks tipper.

This has been the only medication that has not made me sleepy or given me any feelings of euphoria, I absolutely love Methadone and I love the pain relief that I have achieved with it. The longer that you take it, the better the pain relief; since Methadone stores in your fat and muscle tissue and provides almost extended release, so to me it has been a God send! And it also works with Neuropathic pain, another plus!
Of course, like every other medication, there are people that can not tolerate Methadone, but I hope that you do well on it. And yes, I take Dilaudid 4 Mg's for break through pain, but honestly I hardly take it ever since I was started on the Methadone.

thanks, so it takes 5 days to start working)pm doc told me) to start at 1/2 at night, then after a wk 1/2 at am, she said i cant still take other pain meds(vic or perc) til it starts working.
