It took me FOREVER... to get an x-ray ( cervical) because no doc would believe me that my neck didn't feel like it "should" feel. I would ask them to palpate but they either wouldnt or they would say all seems okay. Grrr.
After studying the bones and muscles in the body and after touching countless necks ( although we may have the same muscles... the size and where they attach on the bone can be different from person to person) I knew/know when things feel really "off."

So, since I was persistent ... I got one ( even though they thought it was very unnecessary - and gave me the cold shoulder- the entire time) it came back with info as to why my neck felt so weird to me.
It showed that C2 and C3 are fused ( congenital defect) and what I had been feeling ( that seemed so weird ) is actually the spinous process (pointy thing that protrudes out the back of vertebra) is pointing laterally ... reminds me of "Frankenstein bolts" LOL...

Anyone heard of this or have anything similar? I cant seem to find any info about this...

Wow, that is different. I have heard of odd things in the lumbar region but not in the neck. Ouch. Have they mentioned doing anything about it? Is it causing you pain or just feels weird? Hugs, Barbara

llady, I am glad you finally got the answer you were looking for. Now is there anything they can do about it now to correct it or since it was since birth it is just there to stay.

I had a lower back x-ray and found that I have two of the bones are fused naturally. I don't remember the numbers, but the doctor did say it was rare. No pain though. Can anything be done to your cervical situation if it is causing pain?

Birth anomaly, not that uncommon and asymptomatic because it is "normal" for you ( since birth)

I have heard that its VERY rare... not the fusion ( thats not rare) but fused so that it is not lined up with the rest.

Naw I guess there isnt anything that can be done (sigh) unless they want to take my head off, split the two, line them back up and put my head back on.

Anyone know a specialist? How long do you think rehab would be for something like that?

* I wonder if they would tell me there is no reason I should be feeling pain after my head is taken off... *

So long as the cord signal is normal, it shouldn't be a problem. Is this associated with a Chiari malformation?... An anomaly where the lower part of the brain tends to herniate into the spinal canal.

Wow lady, that is different! Just thinking about it I feel pain. My mother has the same thing but with L4-L5, but they alinged, yours is extremely rare, and it could be what is causing all of your pain. Can they do something? I am wondering........... Hugs,
