I went out on a story I was supposed to report for my journalism class on Monday. I did a good job, but by the time I got home I could hardly walk. I managed to get to school yesterday but didn't retain anything because of this flu thing+ major pain I have going on. I've slept all day today and will not be able to go to school tomorrow... It's just too awful of an idea.

My dream is to be a journalist... But how can I be when one story lays me out flat all week?

I have a hearing for SSI/SSD in Oct... I feel like I will never make my dreams come true.

I'm so broken down and depressed. Being super sick and losing my voice really doesn't make things any better.

I need support and hugs. I feel like just giving up.

Oh Shlay, You poor little one. Here is a hug to start off with..... just wish it was a real one.
When we go out on a mission like writing a story ..... well.... you put your whole self into it and got lost in it and the adrenaline took over and now you are paying for it.
If you have the flu that is a lot of it. The flu just takes over and makes me feel like I will never be able to do anything again.
Tomorrow will be another day. You will get better. Just rest and don't worry about the future. It is going to be okay.
You are going to have to rest though. We all get sick. Even people in chronic pain!
Hugs and don't worry. Just try to rest.

Thank you both so much for your kind words. I will be going to the doctor on Friday and there is no way I can make it to school tomorrow. I HATE missing class. \

I was super proud of myself for actually going to school yesterday, with how awful I felt... But now it's worse and I won't retain anything from my classes.

I just want to be normal.

How bad is your pain when you don't have the flu? I mean can you go to classes pretty regularly and keep up ok? I am so sorry.... I want you to not hurt too.

My pain is still just as bad when I don't have the flu. But most days I manage. I like school and I want an education... but some days I just want to lay in bed and sleep forever.

shlay, so proud of you for going to school.. I do know how hard that must be... i went back to work about 7 months ago, and it is certainly a struggle some days, but my mind needed to do it, and i try and remember that on my worse days...
cp doesnt mean our lives have to end, just adjust in new ways..
youll feel better once you get rid of the bug..

Thanks. I just started throwing up, I almost never throw up... and I have a rash on my leg. I feel like I'm dying lol. I'm such a baby when I'm sick.

good luck with the hearing in Oct....I hope they give it to you n you get to continue school without need to work during that....I was on SSD/SSI when I was in college.....mine was mental illness and I recovered and went out into real world working and was teaching for 12+ yrs.....hugs bill

Journalism is a thing that I will call a gift...I am not gifted...yet my masters degree is media communciations....you would think I knew how to be a journalist but I do not.....hugs bill

hugs shlay... take one day at a time... the concept of moderation and managing your condition can be challenging when studying... it is one i continue to struggle with and I am at the end of my degree....I understand the fact that you hate missing classes.. I am the same but sometimes you just have to look after you which is the most important thing
I think of my time studying as a journey.. and i try to remind myself that every journey has rest periods.. when you stop to fill the car.. to eat.. to rest... Like a journey in a car your study / school journey is the same.. allow your body the rest it needs and you will get there.. in your time as it is your journey

Are you running a fever? With the presence of a rash, it might be a prudent idea to see your doctor. All the symptoms sound like the flu, but for the rash.

Anyway, sorry you're sick sweetie. I hope it passes quickly.

Honey I hope you get to feeling better soon. As others have said taking care of you is the important thing right now, get that rest. You will have more energy to put forth in to school if you do.

Hey. I am just not a happy person today. I'm mean, angry, resentful, pissed, stressed, depressed and lonely. AND I feel like shit. Everything just seems so hopeless right now.
