Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

i dont post much, i guess cause i dont have much hope, so i'll remind ya'll...
18 years ago i shattered my arm and it caused severe nerve damage... giving me a constant resting pain level of around 7 or 8... spiking to the point of passing out with the slightest of provocation... and i lived that way for 17.5 years, till i finally got a stellate ganglion nerve block (2 actually)... which cut the pain in half
so ive spent the last 6 months trying to get some strength back in that arm (with limited success, but some) and make some money again... a friend took pity on me and gave me a job assisting him with home improvements
well, 2 weeks ago, that came screetching to a hault...
on my way home, some kid pulled out in front of me and i had no time to react... i hit him at about 40mph
i broke the shattered arm again... but even tho that hurts pretty bad, its the least of my worries at the moment...
i was wearing my seat belt but managed to eat the steering wheel anyway... i smashed my sturnum and the bridge of my nose
its my chest that threw me back into the pit... i cant believe how much it hurts... whatever i do or dont do, it hurts soooooooo much
i sneezed today and it felt like id been shot... i collapsed and couldnt move for about 10 min
i cant sleep, i cant stand to be awake... the pain pills they gave me did nothing...
i spent the day in the ER again yesterday cause of the pain... they gave me a shot of toradol (anti inflamatory) which helped for a few hours and a script for some in pill form, which arent doing anything but make me dizzy
i cant remember a time when i wasnt in agony
i cannot do this
i wish ida been killed in the accident.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

No, I am glad that you are still among us. Each day is hope that there maybe better treatments, soon. You can do this, we are here to support and help as best as we can.
With your injuries, have they suggested the pain pump that they put in the back? Nerve pain is hell. I don't know how effective that is for nerve pain.
Sending lots of positive energy and prayers.
I hit that pit of hopelessness also. I would guess that we all do. Please try to hang in there. Keep us up to date on how you are doing.
Hugs-RJ
Do you think that when your sternum heals that your pain will subside? I hope so.
Sending you GENTLE (((HUGS!)))
i dont know if itll stop hurting... but even if it doesm im convinced something else will happen to keep me in the pit
im not at all sure im not in hell right now, literally
Hugs,
Lynn
but i found a new primary care dr that ill see on monday... i dont know anything about him and have had terrible luck in that department lately, but maybe he can at least help me find a pain dr i can see soon
my last 2 drs have been ridiculous... the first one tokd me to "think away the pain" from the nerve damage in my shattered arm and the next one didnt even ask me to take off a shoe when i went to see him about my broken foot...
*hugs*
ill post about what happens monday
i screwed up tho... i have 3 dr apts monday and the ride i have set up thinks its only 2... i may have to cancel one
i still hurt, a lot at times... but i can live with this
he also reffered me to a "car accident dr"... whatever that is... i see him thursday
he sent 2 prescriptionis to the drug store too... but they called and said insurance declined one of them... he said for 60 pills it was...
get this....
$13,200.
so hes gonna call the dr tomorrow to see what went wrong...
i suspect the student that was shadowing him made some kinda error somewhere, heh
he started me on a physical therapy routine, which i start in a few hours
he also x-ray'd my arm and said it needs to stay casted another 7-10 days
these drs are starting to conflict tho... this dr suggested i wont need to see the bone dr today cause he already looked at my arm and said the cast should stay... but the guy im sposed to see today had said id need a replacement cause the swelling would have gone down,,, which it has... im gonna go cause i wanna wash my arm under the cast, and im hoping maybe i can get a smaller (or maybe even removable) cast
his nurse also suggested that physical therapy means i dont need to see the chiropractor but i kinda wanna keep going to that... im not completely sure why... all he's been able to do so far is apply heat to my shoulders and run a massager on my back and crack my neck a few times... but i like it, so i think im gonna keep going
anyway... the moral of the story is that a combination of muscle relaxers and pain killers have made life much more tollerable
:)
ty all for the kind words and well wishes
*hugs*
My husband wrecked his motorcycle almost a month ago, has a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a fractured manubrium (top of sternum), broken collar bone, chipped foot, and some sort of injury to his neck because that hurts like hell.... when he coughs or sneezes, he says it hurts his chest SOO bad.
Hopefully all of us can find some sort of relief. I feel like I'm at my wits end since my surgery pretty much failed. I still keep getting the same pain as before, just as bad... thankfully not daily like before, but atleast every other day. Right down the back of my leg, like someones trying to pull my damn nerve out from the top!
pink, ouch... most of my friends have been bikers but i knew at an early age that it would be the death of me... or worse... i just break too easy to ride
UPDATE: (i thought i had posted this a couple days ago but apparently i forgot to hit the add button)
theyre giving me light therapy on my chest, which, surprisingly, really seems to be helping a lot... im also getting electric stimulous along the top of the spine
together with muscle relaxers and pain pills and anti inflamatory meds, its making a huge difference... i still hurt like hell, but its nothing like it was
the dr thats doing my arm took xrays the other day and said he doesnt like the way its healing... said he might have to re-break it... when he took off the cast to replace it, it was obvious, its not growing back right... he gave it a big squish while putting the new cast on... which hurt a lot for days... so hopefully that squished it back into place
but the other bone dr im seeing says thats crazy, and his physical therapy partner says once the cast comes off, he can help it
so i dunno what im gonna do about that
I will pray for your relief... you don't have to believe, all that matters is that I believe :)
