i disapeared from here about 3 years ago, so i'll reintroduce myself. lots has changed since then anyway, so it's a good update post too, in case anyone remembers me
21 years ago i shattered my arm and have bad nerve damage and it kept me at about a 7/10 pain level for decades. then a few years ago i got in a car accident and i sued and my lawyer said not to post anywhere about anything so i thought it best to stay away from here.
well now that law suit is over. i won a whopping $45k, of which i got about 19k (i had to take some loans against the settlement, etc)
so i bought a nice car, and a couple other things i needed, paid some bills, and that 19k is long gone by now.
then that nice car got wasted, hard core. girl was texting, never saw the light. i never saw her till a flash of white ran through the corner of my eye and she smashed my back end at 60mph. please don't text and drive!
so now along with my shattered arm i have 5 ruptured disks in my lower back and 3 herniated ones in my neck. i also got 2 'seatbelt' injuries, which both seem to have wrenched hard on the same rib. mostly that's ok now but when i stretch i'm plainly moving it out of position, and have to spent a while getting it back where it belongs
ive been going to physical therapy 3 times a week for the last 3 years and there's no end in sight
the 5 lawyers i called all say i don't have a case because she only aggrivated injuries i was already being treated for. but now insurance is starting to say no to paying the bills so it's probably time to get a lawyer again
oh and right before all of this, i found my mom, passed away, in her favorite chair, curled up with her favorite blankets
i don't know if i should be posting this because another law suit seems likely now, but i needed someone to talk to. i really don't have anyone anymore, and it's all building up in my head and driving me crazy
one thing i wanted to ask people about...
i think my brain is starting to reject pain, except it's still having an effect on me. when my back is bad, it hurts, but it's not spiking up to 10/10 anymore (maybe 7 or so) but i still have the physical effects of the pain; like tears in my eyes, being unable to stand straight, etc
i was wondering if this was the case with other people or not?
i dunno what to do anymore, i spend half my day in bed wanting to do things but unable to. sometimes i do anyway but i pay for it. sometimes it's worth the price
i just got back from PT and i'm exhausted, i'll write more later i guess
pain dr will only give me creams that do nothing and as many motrin 800's as i want (sometimes they help, i don't take them very often. i think i have like 9 refills i could get right now)
Don't count on a lawsuit. Have you appealed the denial of payment ?. Often insurance companies deny payment. But patients win on appeal. What type of insurance do you have ? Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, etc ?
i have medicaid but i'm in michigan, so this all goes onto auto insurance
Did your doctor tell you he would look into it ? Do not wait to hear something from your doctor.
When a person is on Medicaid. They do not have many options. Medicaid has been phasing out opiates for chronic pain in recent years.
You can't sue because Medicaid will not pay. Did Medicaid pay for any of your care after the first accident ? Did you reimburse them when you received your settlement ?.
it's all auto insurance. the time to appeal has long since come and gone, so i'm not sure what to do about that, but i have someone that's supposed to help me figure out where i'm at and what i need to do next
there are 3 incidents here: 1) shattered arm 20 years ago. 2) accident 3 years ago that wrecked my back, neck, and ribs. 3) accident a few months ago that re-wrecked my back, neck, and ribs. because the second accident only re-injured parts that were already injured, 5 different lawyers have said i don't have a case. michigan has really stpuid laws about this
yes, the other people were at fault in each accident (even tho it's a no-fault state) the second accident she was absolutely texting and was ticketed for it (a whopping $100).

oh and they haven't given me pain killers in years. they'll give me all the motrin 800s i want but i don't really consider them pain killers since they don't do anything for me.
