Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Very sorry about your Mom.
That sadness added to intermittent sadness/depression from CP..
Is a heavy load.
Sadly..Holidays can add to a sense of loss.
I hope you find some comfort here.
IDK about the Med situation..
Hope you get a good outcome.
Hugs

One common comment about Opana is that the ER version does not last the 12 hours needed for it to be a good 24 hour med (taking 1 every 12 hours). In my case, I do not need any pain med while in bed so a 24 hour med is not needed. To make a complete day (say 14 hours) my doctor prescribed one ER in the morning and one IR PRN each day.
One other issue that I had with Opana is that must be taken on an empty stomach; either 1 hour before, or 2 hours after, any meal. This can make it difficult to use PRN. (BTW - - Taking it on an empty stomach did not cause any stomach problems, just timing/planning.)
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I know this has to be so hard on you specially around the holidays. But your strong and now she is at peace. She's looking down from above smiling upon you. Living on through your memories and your love for her in your heart. I'm very sorry for your loss.
I've never taken Opana. But I do take Morphine. Time released. And I don't itch from it. I hope this new course of treatment works for you and you get relief.
Best wishes,
Paula
I don't know much about meds, so I'm not much help here from my peeking around on goggle, seems its still a side effect that is common but less than the morphine to my understanding I hope it works well for you ..fingers crossed
sorry about your mother's passing, I know that's hard in general, the holidays sure do seem to add to the stress of things
please check in when you feel up to it to let us know how your doing

Opana ER works great for me. I've been taking it for almost a year. I do have to take it 3 times a day, 40mg. No itching for me. My Dr. switches me back and forth between Morphine ER and Opana ER.
Healing hugs
Opana never had any big side effects for me, but I've also used Morphine IR and ER for years with no itching. The only issues I or friends ever had with Opana was that it was expensive and harder to get sometimes because it's a newer drug and production can run slow at times.
Hope it works for you and you get better pain control.
Take care,
Kat
My guess is--- its more about the individual rather than what med it is... but I dunno...
Be well!
