Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

If you go to the drugstore, or walmart or just about any store these days they have heat wraps that you can use on your knees and they work wonders for arthritis pain, esp. if it's cool/cold or damp outside. Just an FYI those cortisone injections only last for 9 - 12 weeks usually and you are limited to how many you can get in a year. Most Ortho's will only do 3, some will push it to 4.
Take care,
Kat
So sorry you woke up in so much pain today with your left knee!! I will pray you get an ortho appt. quickly so that you can get some relief. In the meantime def use whatever you have to help the pain. Bless your heart!! Gentle hugs....
I just got an appt with the PA at the ortho for tomorrow at 2:30.
I am going to try some heat/cold relief later today.
I have used those wraps for my hip in years past. They do help. Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks for the good wishes. Hope everyone has a decent pain day!!!
I used to get cortisone shots in my right knee every 2 weeks for almost a year. I was 15 and tore cartilage playing field hockey. That was a long time ago, before they recognized how damaging they can be on a long-term schedule like that.
but at least I had a good ortho who scoped my knee and said the tear was so small he wouldn't do surgery on it because the surgery could do more harm than good. That was 38 years ago and it only bothers me when it rains. Go figure.
i'm glad you got in so fast! I hope this shot works well and for a long time.
Sandy
I'm sorry to hear your knee is giving you trouble again, but glad to hear that the shot helped before and that you can go for another one. Having had arthritis in my knees, I can relate to the pain that causes.
I pray you get relief soon
Hugs,
Mary Ellen
