I have heard of this....there is a study for rsd in which they are trialing 'ketamine comas'....although trying it from the street market is dangerous and at the minute, there is no proof that it helps.

a gal on another site is doing it for pelvic pain and seem offended that I said it sounded scary, she said they are doing it for pain all over the country, I never heard of it.

This was suggested for my RSD, but I really was scared to try it. There is a doc who does it at the university of south florida in Tampa I think. I looked him up and there was no address or phone # to contact him, so I didn't pursue it. My neurologist wasn't too keen on it either.

Isn't this supposed to work like a reset button? You don't feel any pain for an extended period of time and the brain connection resets correctly. If this is the one, then I thought it was still experimental and not for all pain.

I noticed the name. Its used during my ESIs & if I remember correctly Ive used the topical solution prescribed from an Ortho. .

If it becomes useful in the PM world sooner or later we'll hear about it. I knew I recognized the name.

After reading about it I myself, would definitly try it n may request it at next office visit with Dr. If I take it I'll be sure to give a report of effectivness,etc. Thanks for bringing it up.

I read the whole article and I want to try it myself. It sounds good to me. Some patients have no pain anymore.

I've had it in the ambulance for an acute attack of pancreatitis. It works well! Very strong!

I've also had a six day Ketamine Infusion. The idea to reduce my pain and medications. This involves a week's stay in hospital where they add a percentage of Ketamine to your IV along with regular fluids for six days. I couldn't walk for the first day and wasn't able to do much apart from watch TV as I was pretty much "out of it" until the last day and a half when I started to feel a bit more with it.

It only managed to reduce my pain slightly which was unfortunate. But I've heard that some people have much better results, even removing their pain completely for a peior of time.

Katamine effects the nervous system and can help nerve pain. My PM prescribed a cream which included katamine. It is a compound prescription only.

The surgery clinic has anesthesiologists that use katamine with propofol to put under for the epidural.

I also have chronic pelvic pain, I have not yet heard of it from my PM doctor, but I know it's was used to sedate felines
