Hi all any one out there in Florida hear of a new law about filling pain meds at pharmacys 5 miles from docs office

Yes it is that's what cvs told me, I haven't asked walgreens yet but my doctor is over 12 miles away and meds ate hard to find down here pharmacys don't keep a large inventory and most don't even carry the type of meds people like us need for fear of robbery. They won't even tell you on the phone if you call , so at the end of every month when I am hurting I sometimes have to drive like 20 miles to get filled , if this new law is correct I am in trouble . Florida sucks

I haven't and my doc is over an hour away. My current pharmacist hasn't said anything so I sure hope not!

I live in FL and have not heard anything, and I just filled one of my Rx's a few days ago. When I saw this, I googled and read all the new laws on prescribing and dispensing and found nothing even remotely related to distance. I would think that would create a huge number of issues relating to free trade, etc. For example, I use Sam's club because they have the lowest prices anywhere around me for my meds (self pay and no insurance.). If that type of law were in effect, would be forced to use a pharmacy NOT of my choosing. Actually, I don't even think there is one within 5 miles of my PM.

Now, I could see if it was a 50 mile radius to help curtail Dr and Pharmacy shopping, but I did not see anything in the law updates on that either. Maybe CVS is just enacting a policy or something? I know there are new reporting and monitoring regs that went into effect in September.

Would like to know more - can you ask your CVS for clarification or more info?

South Florida here... I've not heard this. The only change I've heard was now you have to go to a PM if you are deemed chronic - no more from GP's or surgeons past 6 weeks or so.... Grrrrr.....

Florida sucks plus so does CVS if no one else have heard of this then good , I am going to talk to my neighborhood walgreens where I fill most of my keep u all posted

Hello all well I dropped of my script at walgreens and they diddnt say a word , I am early so I will have to pick it up tnite after midnight allways running short every month . No matter how hard I try . This life sucks.
