I made an early appt with pain doc, I dont know if thats a " flag" but they did a ua, I got the bill yesterday 400$!!!! I only work pt, my ins doesnt cover this doc, my usual visit is every 4-5 mths at 200, wasnt expecting this.
Also she prescribed the fent. patch(12mc) it isnt working, at all, lucky she wrote me a oxycodone script also, if I dont get some relief im going to loose it. I looked up conversion and the amy of oxy im taking she should have prescibed 25 fent,
Anyways I feel like crying today, my boss said I need to watch my pto, i called in friday( havent called in for 5mths)but I had to leave early twice for doc appts, I emailed her and said I will watch it, I rarely call in if you have noticed.

So sorry that you are going through this. You might try calling the office to tell them the fentanal is not working and ask them to check the dosage. Most of my doctors will adjust meds like that by phone.

Dr. expenses are just absolutely ridiculous!!! I had bacterial pneumonia last year and my dh cut his arm open about the same time....we are now paying on a $5,000 bill! It's awful!
I'm sorry your in so much pain! Hope the oxy works soon for you and you can get some relief!

I'm doing the oxy to patch conversion. It's rough, but docs do have to proceed with caution. Fentanyl is a serious Med. The upside is that once we are through it, our pain perceptors will a little back on track.

I did the fentayl patch and only the 50 would work a bit and I had to change every other day. Call the doctor and tell them it needs to be upped a bit at least to the 25that is ridiculous you have been on pain meds a long time and that low a strength is not going to cut it.

I would not touch that patch for any amount of money.
A friend used a low dose and feel asleep at work and could not be woken up. Now they put him in rehab. The docs are convinced he is an addict and not in real pain.

Just one case - I know. Just seems like when I hear about these things it is for a reason.

I with you on this one, sunnybun. I had been on many long term with o/y for break through when changing to patch. Doc still started me on only25s. With less oxy for break through.
Fentayl is morphine x some surprisingly high number I can re all strong.
Yes, the dose she started me o n was for those used only to 30 mgs of oxy- when i was taking 180 mg a day. There is a reason ing behind this other than abject cruelty
Deaths attributed to long acting meds are on the rise. Even in, if not especially in, the cases like ours of those who have been on high meds for a while.
As I said earlier, it is damn hard I'm doing it myself right now. But, if the goal is long term better pain relief, someti es we have to grit our teeth through the short term.
Just my opinion, but I am in exactly the sae situation........jc
