Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Are y'all managing okay here recently? I sure hope so. I haven't been on in a while and could use some updates. :-)
I know I'm struggling... I have a definitive diagnosis of severe Celiac disease now, and have had insane pains literally everywhere. I've had a flare up of nerve pains lately and then found out today I have mono (for the fourth time -_-) So finishing out this semester is going to be rough.. I'm starting homebound next week so I don't have to go to school as much and can get some extra help since I've been having so much trouble focusing. I think it's the best way to get my grades up when I can't stay awake for more than a few hours. I still REALLY want to be a valedictorian but I'm not sure if I can do it; all these honors classes are ten times more difficult when I miss so much school... I'm praying that all this pain will go away once my stomach heals and all of my medicines are able to work correctly. Because, frankly, I'm not sure how much more of this I can take. I'll get through it though.
And you know what? It's Friday! :-)

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...

Emily, you are such a strong girl and I know you'll do the best you can. It's great that you'll have someone for you to take your classes at home. You need to get well from the mono. I'm betting you'll be up and roaring in no time.
As for me, I'm struggliing a bit today. I just don't feel well. Not sure what it is. The SCS is helping my RSD pain, but the fibro pain is yelling right now. I slept for an hour this afternoon, which is rare for me and usually means i'm sick. I hope I'm not coming down with anything- I still haven't fully gotten rid of this resp. infection I've had for over a month. I just want to feel good for a whole day! It doesn't seem like that much to ask, does it???
I'm so glad you have the dx of celiac- now you can move on and learn how to control it. It will take time, but at least now you know what you're dealing with. Good for you!

me I spent some time outside in the nicer weather today at mom's house but I am hurting because of what I did....I pulled three big branches into back yard from front then using the electric chain saw I cut them up and a couple other big branches that were already on the pile and I got a nice pile of wood for mom to have a fire in fireplace if she wishes over thanksgiving weekend while we have a big group of people here...
my sister from Ohio is here...her daughter, grandson and his dad will come from Tenn...and the dad's parents are coming in too...
so with my other sister and her husband and their two sons and maybe one girlfriend we have a huge gathering this year for Thanksgiving at mom;s house....
so I needed to get the yard a little nicer....still think I should blow her front yard leaves together and pick them up into the cans for trash pick up...they do not vacuum our leaves any longer they have you put them into yard waste containers....
I guess knee pain is to follow the amount of work I do on the yard....LOL but I am the one who is son and the gals will be cooking for me...so I guess it is my responsibility to get it done....how about others planned Thanksgiving? let me know I am not alone in this challenge???

I've also not been on her much. I've been struggling a lot with my pain. The back pain is basically the same, but the 24/7 leg pain gets worse and worse with every week. I struggle to stand at my job, driving is difficult. All I can think about now is how much I hurt and how I want it to end. When I first got to the level of pain I have now, I really thought it was going to kill me. This is on top of what is suspected as seizures happening regularly in my sleep, which leave me confused and in SEVERE pain.
I'll admit that I have days when I wanted to just die. The pain has really made me depressed. Only a few people in my life understand. my feet are turning inward and I can only walk on the sides. I can't even wear regular shoes anymore. My Achilles tendons is past a 10 pain wise.
I see my neuro on the 28th and I guess I'll learn what happened during the EEG I had several weeks ago. I don't remember most of that day really. I need to make sure I talk to him about how much this all is worrying me.
I just need some validation. This can't be all in my head? Either I'm a complete nutcase or I'm really sick.... Just wish I knew. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep up with working, etc at this rate.
My back is starting to bother me again daily, but I see my PM doc on Monday. We'll see what they want to do.

Bill - I'm glad you're up and going despite the pain, hopefully it won't make you feel too bad. Thanksgiving is always tough enough to get planned and even tougher with CP but it's good that you have family coming in :)
onamountain - I am so sorry that things are so bad.. I understand how crappy the pain can make you feel. When it gets unbearable sometimes you would just rather die than have to go through it. But things will get better.. I wish I could tell you something that would make it easier, I really do. But you just have to stay strong and wait for it all to be over. Honestly, I wouldn't get through if it weren't for the opiates and antidepressants. I'll be thinking of you - hope all goes well with the EEG.
JJ - Good luck at pain management, I hope they can help you. :)
