Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

OK, though last night started out great, it ended horrible for other reasons (hubby is down with cellulitis again).
Anyway, I am here at my computer at 5am hoping that I can get pain under control so I can go back to bed. I am paranoid as so much goes wrong. I also know that I don't heal right and break too easy because of the thyroid cancer and resulting radiation and hormone replacement. So now I am paranoid.
While the night was still going well last night, my daughter was changing position in front of me, I was dying her mohawk red and purple, 'cause it was fun, when she slipped. She landed with her whole weight pressing outwards on my knee, driving the metal bar on the arm of the chair into my thigh. At the time, other than knowing she had wrenched my knee, I did not think much about it. I was on a lot of pain meds to be able to lean forward and do the careful work on her hair.
It actually was not until I went to go to bed that I thought about it again. Standing brought shooting pain originating from where my thigh struck the arm of the chair and traveled up and down my femur. Trying to get to sleep was impossible due to the pain in my thigh. It is pinpointed to an area about the size of a silver dollar. It took two extra vicoden, taken an hour apart, before the pain was under control enough to get sleep.
And here I am, six hours later, up again because my leg hurts.
With hubby down sick, there is not even the possibility of being safer rather than sorry and going to the ER. at least not for the next three or four days. What am I scared about? Did I hairline fracture the femur?
I say I am paranoid as that is a thick bone and it should not even be a possibility... but I know that was a lot of quick side pressure and my system breaks so darn easy. I screwed up my shoulder by just throwing away a bag a trash - 9 months ago - and I only have about 60% use of my right arm at this point.
But really, even if there is a hairline fracture, is there really anything that would be done? they would tell me to stay off of it - well, pain will do that anyway. I can't use crutches, not with my bum shoulder. I can't use a cane, it wrecks havoc on my spine.
So, I am paranoid. I have taken some extra calcium. My pain meds have kicked in so I am going to try to get some more sleep. Today I have to get hubby in to the Dr for antibiotics and get the SUV into the shop for the apt made three weeks ago. It is going to be a long day...
There is no viable bruise on my leg, but why does it hurt through all these pain killers I take for my back? wish me luck, and tell me I am a fool and just have a bone bruise!

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

And I wouldn't worry about going to the ER if you need to. You have a lot going on with your body and you know your body best. For pain that intense, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Take care.

Keep us up to date on yourself and what the doctor says.

For now I will just stay off of it as much as possible. It is not out of place, just unhappy about weight bearing.

A local clinic is totally out of pocket - and I have no income. The ER is the VA ER and free.
I can't drive, and the VA ER is almost 90 minutes away. My daughter could drive me, but hubby is too sick to leave alone for the six to eight hours we would be gone. If I had someone to watch hubby, then we could go. Once he is well enough to leave alone, then, if it is still an issue, I will go... I am still hoping that it is nothing...
yadlim... yeah, bad luck has been mine for just over ten years
Unfortunately nothing is worse than feeling trapped in the middle of the night. Glad that you are seeing some bruising and it is feeling a bit better. Just don't forget about this completely. Get it checked out when you can.
