Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
i have met some of the most caring and loving people through this site, who i talk to every day, my family fully understands the life of pain and they help and are great also.
my family helps with taking me to the drs,and the chemist and the hospital.
i also have 4 children, they fully understand, but wish mum could do more, but since they were born, i have being in pain, so it's something they have grown up with.
my parents take my children, over the weekends, once a month, so i can get rest.
also with the government, helping, i also get get child care, as they pay for 90% of the child care.
i also have other friends that are in pain and understand what life with cp is like.
making friends is very easy, gotta love this site for all the help, friends, compassion, understanding, supportive, it also helps you build up the self esteem, and helps guide through the crazy things we have to through.
i hope this helps.

I am new here too, to get friends I just put up a post like you did. I put the post up in my main medical diagnosis first, its called Polymyositis, its an auto immune disease, its a Chronic Illness. You are welcome to check out my profile to see how I found myself on this site. I too suffer from pain, I'm currently on Fentanyl Patches, I'm on a pretty high dose at the moment, I also top it up with panadol sometimes. I change my patch every 3 days, sometimes I forget to do it, but by the forth day I can feel the pain in my body and it also causes me to be very very tired. The fentanyl patches do work, but some of the side effects really suck, I have very itchy skin. I'm not looking forward to having to detox off them either, I have read some of the withdrawl symptoms on the net and they dont sound pleasant. Oh well I will cross that bridge when I come to it.m This site seems awesome so far, I hope you find some more friends. Kind Regards Sarah
Maybe around where you live could you join any clubs or groups? That way you dont have to talk about yourself or even tell people you have chronic pain? I dont tell new people I meet and it always makes me kinda forget for a little while as Im discussing new things with a new someone.
When I first joined DS i just read the boards until I felt I wanted to chat to people and thats fine..plenty of people are 'lurkers' hehe but its always nice to hear from them!
Hope to hear from you soon, hugss x
Welcome to the group! I am so glad you both found your way here. Our members have many different diagnoses, but we all have pain in common. No one can understand life in pain the way a fellow sufferer can. We share good and bad, funny and sad and triumphs and tragedies alike.
I hope that you find the help here that I and so many others have. Jump into any thread, or start a new topic if you like.
Hugs,
Theresa
