Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Im new to this forum, and new to this pain thing, Im normally an otherwise healthy person but not the last few weeks. Im going to share a journal entry to better explain my situation,
Never felt so much in one go, Hurts so bad I cant even turn over in bed without it screaming at me. I dnt know if it is bursitis anymore because now its been almost a month and it hasn't gone away, and I thought it would be recovered by now.
I have even had to remove one of my goals, the fitness one, because of the pain being too much to work out. Even getting up from a sitting position is agony, I cried myself to sleep with the pain and I never cry, felt like such a failure crying over the pain and abandoning my goal, but at the same time I know Im not, because I endure hours in work on my feet with this pain so I know I havent failed, I do find that sometimes distraction helps with the pain, just like it does with emotional pain. So I might find a hobby like writing a blog if I find a good blogging site and good topics to write about.
The worst parts are in the morning, when Im just getting out of bed, which is a struggle, and at night in bed, that is when the pain is at its peak. It means that Im in the same position all night because it hurts too much to move which doesnt help. I really dnt know what to do to ease it for good.

Being in the same position day after day can be hard on the body. I suggest you speak to your dr. about some exercises that will help you limber up some. I really think you will find some improvement in the pain you are having.
Most drs. have take home exercise sheets. I hope this and other suggestions helps ease your pain.
Welcome again!

What do you do that helps it or makes it worse? Does the weather have an effect on your pain?
Knowing the answers to these questions may be helpful in giving you suggestions that may be helpful to you.
Gentle hugs dear.
I'm not sure about the weather affecting it, but I was on a course of naproxen and until I finished the course, the pain eased up, only now the course ended has it come back full force
I'm Paula and it's very nice to meet you. I'm very sorry your in so much pain. I've had Bursitis before and I would think it should of cleared up by now. I seriously think you should go back and see the doctor. If the Naproxen helped it and then once you stopped it all started again maybe you need more. Or possibly something else stronger cause that just wasn't enough. But I really think you need to be checked because you just can't continue in pain not knowing what is going on.
Secondly your never a failure because you had to change a goal or your crying because of pain. That isn't your fault and can't be helped. Don't ever look down on yourself for that. You should admire yourself for the fact that you work putting up with the pain. That is a major accomplishment having chronic pain. Be proud of yourself for that.
At night when you sleep is it possible to rest a pillow under the area where it is at. Sometimes just having it elevated some and something soft helps. I had it on my leg and I would do that and it helped. Also put ice on the area helps bring down the swelling. Try taking some ibuprofen..
And as I'm typing all this the more I was thinking about the fact of you working. Bursitis usually requires alot of rest. You may be having reoccuring bursitis because you have to work and it's not getting the rest it needs. Or maybe now you have chronic bursitis. Why you definitely need checked out.
I hope your pain lessens up and something I said helps. Please come back and give us an update. If you ever need to talk please feel free to message me.
Best wishes,
Paula

Were you dx'd with bursitis in your hip? I can unfortunately sympathize with that pain. I was in the military and would get bursitis in my hip every time we did a ruck march (which is a 10 kilometer march in full gear carrying a 55 poud pack). I was treated with steroids and a strong anti-inflammatory every time. I would also ice the area frequently each day and my pain would feel better after about 8 weeks. Are they treating it with anything? I know how painful it is...was worse than sciatica...which I unfortunately would also get. Lying down also doesn't help it feel better, either. I remember most of those days I would stand/walk as much as possible. Very very painful. I really hope you can find some relief.
Welcome and, while I am sorry you have to be here...I am glad you found us.
