Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Yup, went to ER from pain, and of course all they did was throw more pills at me and send me on my merry way.
I know what you mean about being tired of tests and dr's appts and holding on to that rope. I have a sticky note pad that says, "When you've reached the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang the f*** on!"
I've been referred all over he** too. Another doctor's appt tomorrow. Yay!
Glad you are here and talking about your situation. It helps to know you're not alone.
Gentle hugs

be patient, be positive and communicate with the docs. could be wonderful things.
PEACE................t
The only ER trip for me was the night of the wreck. I have had doctors that I didn't care for and pretty much treated me like just another generic chronic pain, already got it figured out, patient. It gets frustrating. We have a group here that is, has, or will be where you are. I hate to say it but patience has been the key for me. Not that I have the right key chain all the time, but I try.
I'm sure you'll get some answers.
Best wishes,
David.

Yes pain is frustrating and you will get through it, it may be only a day at a time but just relax and get a doctor who you feel comfortable with. The ER will just give meds and kick you out the door and say good luck. Start documenting now it is important because you will have to take alot of test and being organized will help when you have to go to a new doctor or specialist.
I went to ER twice when I tore my rotator cuff, because it was at Christmas time and it took forever to get into Doctors.
Thank God I had my daughter with me at ER because I only wanted antiflamatory shot, but could not get the words out because of the pain, The doc just seen all the meds I was allready on and thought the worse. my chronic pain meds did not touch the pain from rotator cuff tear.
Just keep on hanging on and you will get the help you need.
I wish you well and welcome!
I think that every single person here can relate, we all have chronic pain issues, and we are here to get support, and to give support to those that needed the most.
I had several pain episodes that I had to go to the ER for, only one time did I dealt with a Doctor that thought that I was looking for "my fix". Anytime that an ER Doctor sees the word Methadone on the list of meds that I take, they inmmediatly assume that I am a junkie and that this is why I take Methadone, it drives me nuts!! That is why I rather wait until morning, or Monday if it's a weekend to have my pain management Doctor take care of me, I hate going to the ER!!
I hope that you receive the support that you need here, take care and again, welcome!

P.S. - What is causing your pain??
ER staff is equipped to handle trauma victims, ruptured appendices, gallbladder attack, heart attack, asthma attack, etc, and as you don't fall into one of those categories, you get sent away with meds and told to see your regular doctor. So save yourself the trouble and call your doctor instead. Sad, isn't it?
but welcome to the group, and keep us up dated
