Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Let me ask you a question, do you have a pain management Doc? If you do, ask him about a spinal cord stimulator (SCS) for your peripheral neuropathy. I have neuropathy on both legs due to a failed lumbar fusion and I had my SCS implanted in June of 08 after a 5 day trial, and the device has been my salvation! All of my nerve pain is gone, I wish that it would work with my mechanical pain, but it doesn't, but one out of two ain't bad! So, if you don't have a PM Doc, try to find one, and if you do talk to him about the SCS's and if he thinks that you are a good candidate for one.
You will have to go through a trial anyways. so you have nothing to loose..... If it works, Hurray! So think about it and check it out online, I think that this could hopefully be the answer to your pain. Good luck,
Tipper
Thanks Chronic. I've changed the way I take the pills to Cymbalta and Lyrica in the morning and Lyrica again when it starts hurting in the afternoon or early evening. It seems to help more.
I also have intractable pain due to fail back surgery syndrome and the SCS does not take care of that type of pain, so for me it meant taking less medications, now I only take my pain meds, no more of the nerve pain meds. Hopefully one of these days you can get one and stop taking meds all together, wouldn't that be nice??
Good family here.
