I've been battling back problems for about 4 years now. I'm at my wits end as how to deal with it. I honestly wasn't given any kind of coping skills, all I was given were prescriptions for drugs that were so hardcore all I did was sleep. I've had 3 back surgeries. The first one, to correct a herniated disc. The second one to fix what that was screwed up which had cause the disc to collapse, also causing the one above it to fail. And the third was a hardware removal last January.
The pain seems to get worse and worse, and some days, it rules my life. I honestly have no idea how to block it out and live a normal life anymore. It's been 4 years of me being in bed, because if I get up and do anything, I pay for it so hard the next day that it's ridiculous.
Anyone have any advice for the new kid in the group? Anything and everything would be welcomed. I just don't know what to do anymore.
Love,
Sarah
hi Sarah. like you I am trying to cope.
we look at the steps of grieving. they are similar to living with pain.
cos we do grieve our loss of life.
we may bargain .. with a higher spirit. please heal me.
forgot the others. I am minding 4 dogs.
but my fave is .. acceptance.. but I will add adapting.. to the situation.
I will post more later
in Australia we have the nerve pain web page. I will put the link up when I get a chance
I am pleased to know I am not the only one ..
my story is. I had surgery a few years ago. herniated disc. L5 S1 sciatica nerve.
a year later the nerve pain got worse. the gp says it is damaged nerve.
now the other leg has pain. and scans show same .. disc on the sciatic nerve.
I have MRI. but $$ will eventually get it done.
I am taking tramadol SR twice a day. does not make me tired - 150mgs
and Endep - at night
Celebrex . anti inflame.
panadol osteo as I cant take codeine.
have been offered. -synthetic morphine but it makes me sleep 12 hours. so I use that for pancreatitis. only
I do find the less I do the better I cope
the better I sleep. the better I am the next day also
