Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) Support Group
Chronic myelogenous leukemia affecst the balance of blood cells in the body, disrupting the normal balance. The cancer cells eventually begin to outnumber and push out the good cells, and could lead to anemia and easier bleeding/bruising. If you or a loved one is diagnosed with CML, this is the community to discuss your experience.
Congrats on the PCRU. :-)
Don't loose hope. There are trials underway reviewing stopping your TKI when you've acheived 2 years of PCRU. They are also looking at other ways of defeating the stem cells, so a cure may be just around the corner.
I'm currently working with my doctor on a TKI cessation trial. I'm still in the first six months of stopping, so can't get too excited at the PCRU results from my first blood test.
start looking now for companies and even the mfg also talk to your doctor about free samples and even a credit card to pay for the meds
I say search now so if insurance runs out you are ahead of the game
I urge you to not take advantage of any help you may get until needed
Some do the sample and stuff just to get out of the co pays they have
I understand a few cases that pennies are pinched but some can well afford the co-pay
You can even do on line searches do not take a card you have to buy and do some searches even on here and other cml sights
