Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) Support Group
Chronic myelogenous leukemia affecst the balance of blood cells in the body, disrupting the normal balance. The cancer cells eventually begin to outnumber and push out the good cells, and could lead to anemia and easier bleeding/bruising. If you or a loved one is diagnosed with CML, this is the community to discuss your experience.

I do still drink earl gray, Lipton but I am a bit skeptical on green tea, which I love. I am on tasigna.
It isnot specific about whether they think it decreases or increases your TKI and I'd have to assume you might need to drink a lot of green tea for it to have an impact.
I am fairly new to CML but the one thing I have read is that we should not drink grapefruit juice while taking Sprycel.
I am guessing if you take your tea in moderation and dont notice any side affects it would be pretty safe.
Why not ask your health team to clarify what you cannot drink.
Could I ask what side affect you have with Sprycel? I am extremely tired, with weak joints, skin rash and nausea but they are much less extreme than when I was on Gleevec and Tasigna, plus they have reduced my intake to 80mg per day and that has helped.
Take care

Thanks for your comment. My side effects from Sprycel are bothersome, but not too bad. Initially I was on 100mg and that caused a lot of edema resulting in my stopping the med. Then I was put on 70mg, which wasn't bad, but it caused my platelet count to drop quite a bit and the Doc. said to stop. Now I'm on 50mg and the side effects are a slight tiredness and drowsiness, but definitely manageable. However, I did find out today that the blood counts have dropped again resulting in my having anemia.
My understanding is that the 50mg should clean up the bone marrow and then I'll go back on a higher dosage. All in all, Sprycel seems to be Ok and I'm glad we have access to the new drugs.
