I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. How difficult to be diagnosed with CML at such a time. My heart goes out to you.

But please see your doctor as soon as possible.

Medical Marijuana can help alleviate the symptoms of both CML and the medication you must take for it, but MM will not stop the progression of CML, so you need treatment also.

I am on Gleevec for CML and use MM myself. It has helped greatly.

Thank you Beth. How did you feel when you started meds? I don't feel sick have just thought it was all the stress . Past menopause so hot flashes did seem odd. I have been on anti depressants 25yrs so tiredness and loss of sleep is nothing new either. Did you have other health issues?

Hi Bcovi - how do you know it is 'advanced'? If you have had few symptoms maybe it will be in the easier to treat 'chronic' phase. You are going through a terrible time at the moment, but hang in there - I am thinking about you and hoping for the best for you.

"advanced CML" is not an appropriate term. There is chronic phase, accelerated phase, and blast crisis. We'll assume it is not chronic if he used the term advanced. If it is blast crisis that is quite serious and you would be in for a long road with treatment. I would expect you to be quite sick in blast crisis so it is unlikely. I would also expect doctor to be insistent about coming in if blast, so we'll assume accelerated. Diagnosing in accelated phase is tricky and need to be done by a CML expert to be certain. It would involve a few different tests including a bone marrow biopsy. Even in AP the outlook with TKI drugs is pretty good. Highly likely that Sprycel or Tasigna would get you to chronic phase and long term prognosis would be good. Life on TKI drugs is not too bad for most. You need to see a good CML specialist as soon as it is possible. This is very treatable.

I am very sorry to hear about your husband. I lost my brother in law and father in law both in the last 5 months. It has been very hard. Not the same as a spouse but still very difficult.

All I can say is try not to let your grief get in the way of getting treatment. CML is very treatable, but it is not something you want to die from. Pot ain't going to help in this case.

My husband and I were napping Monday night me on the couch next to his hospital bed from Hosipce. I was playing soft music, low lights Daughter and grandson in our bedroom and son his room. Valerie woke me up and said Dad, I think he's gone. He had passed in his sleep. I woke up and he didn't... Kind of romantic? Very sad...

I have signed the paperwork at my Dr. office to have Bristol Myers. Send be my meds free of charge. I am happy they are working to help people and understand Marijuana can't do it all. I do think studies on cannabis has to come into play to advance the natural health of this country

Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear about your husband, I had no idea until I just read the above posting.
If there is anything I can do to help and support you, just ask. I am in early stages of treatment, and am just finding my feet with trying different treatments, which have not worked for me, but perhaps we could travel this journey together.

I am so sorry about your husband . It is a scary time and I know mm can help with the stress and Nassau. I was DX with cml 4 years ago and now am on my third drug...sprycel. I started out with some blasts and WBC at 109000 and now WBC is normal 5000. My BCR is very low now too but not in complete remission. All I can say is that everyday there is always new hope. Just being alive is a new possibility each day for new opportunities to either grow or help and impact someone else's life. Take care and I am sending you positive energy to survive the loss of your husband and to be able to manage your cml. your experience may help another someday..that is what I hold onto with all these sad and scary things that seem to keep occurring in some of our lives.
