Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Support Group
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (or "chronic lymphoid leukemia") CLL, is a cancer in which too many lymphocytes (a type of white blood cells) are produced. CLL is the most-diagnosed form of leukemia in adults. Men are twice as likely to develop CLL as women, however the key risk factor is age: over 75% of new cases are diagnosed in patients over age 50.
I'm sorry for the delay in response. For some reason this message board is not very active. I check once in a while and saw your post. I have been on watch and wait Stage zero for 4 years this coming September. I hope everything goes well for you. I know what it feels like just to be on watch and wait and can't imagine how you feel to have to start treatment. My oncologist is very optimistic about the treatments that are out there. I work at a hospital and my former chief of staff is an oncologist. He said there iare many promising advances with CLL. I think there is another website called CLL forum that might be more active. I'm sure all will go well for you and your emotions will level out. Take care. Please post again and give updates. I will keep checking to see how you are doing.
But we are all in prayer and it is good to know there are options for us. I try not to get down, it does not help anyway. I am blessed in so many ways. So I need to just keep the faith and know I am in Gods hand. I'll try the CLL forum to see if anyone else is on the imbrovica. Thank for your post.
CLL. I found out I had it July 10th of 2015. My WBC was 17 then and has gone up to 28. An herbalist friend thought I should try herbs to
bring the WBC down. They went down to 24.8 last blood test. I don't
know if it is common for the count to go up and down from month to
month. I would like to know if yours or others has had count to go up and then down. I want be having another blood test until middle of
January.
I was just diagnosed too about t month ago. I heard there was a clinical trial that had some success with Green Tea extract in the amount of 2000 grams per day. I ran this by my Dr. and she had heard of the study and said it may be a good idea. We can only hope!
And Paul, don't think about those life expectancies too much. I scared the crap out of myself looking at all the info. There are very good odds you will live a full life and get knocked off by something else. Yes, some sorts of CLL are more aggressive, but they are in the minority. I pray you all have the "good" kind.
