Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) Support Group
Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (or "chronic lymphoid leukemia") CLL, is a cancer in which too many lymphocytes (a type of white blood cells) are produced. CLL is the most-diagnosed form of leukemia in adults. Men are twice as likely to develop CLL as women, however the key risk factor is age: over 75% of new cases are diagnosed in patients over age 50.
Has anyone had a general surgery since being diagnosed with CLL.
I am going in tomorrow for a H-Hernia repair. I am getting more and more anxious as the time approaches. If anyone with CLL has had an unrelated surgery please write in with your experiences. I told the general surgeon all about my CLL. Even brought in blood tests that were done at the Cancer Center last August. They also did CBC in Hospital at s pre-op eval.
Nothing was said. I told the nurse about the elevated White Count, but somehow I get the impression they really don't know anything about CLL.
Meanwhile I try to contain my anxiety and fears by writing about it.

Ok. Make sure to find out shattered your counts are. Im sure ifyour counts weren't ok they wouldn't do surgery. Let me know how it
goes.
