I had an electrostatic air purifier that I used at work when everyone was smoking around me. I cleaned and cleaned it, but whenever I cranked it up, it made the room smell like cigarettes.
Guess I don't have to worry about it anymore, looks like someone stole it off my carport...haven't seen it in years. They steal anything here that looks like it might be worth something in a pawn shop. I even have to lock up my garden hoses overnight.
I would get this crazy spaced out migraines where I wasn't in pain per se, just lost in the space between my ears and that's when I'd have the phantom smells. I remember one episode where I was at work and smelled the smell so I went around the building looking to see if people in other offices had their windows open. I later went to lunch and drove across town to a bookstore and could still smell that strange smell. Later that evening when I got to my town and stopped at the pet store for dog food, the smell was still with me so I realized there was something going on with me, not the environment.
Migraines and seizures are actually very similar, I've read. Both are caused by an abnormal firing of neurons in the brain. To be honest, this medical stuff gives me the creeps. But I find it helps to know as much as I can.
Most times its the squiggly lines type of aura for about an hour followed by a forehead headache but sometimes I smell flowers and there are none around, strong, to the point of being nauseous... also I get the kind where you just feel like your head is floating a foot off your shoulders, like you are disconnected in a way from the rest of your body.
Neurologist says it's all migraine common activity.
