Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...

Can you expand on what kind of activities send you over the threshold and the amount? I struggle to with creating the proper balance between being productive and being realistic to my disorder. I try to exercise for good health, but I think I have exacerbated my condition from it. Like playing on a trampoline with my kids a week ago sent me out of commission. I though I could get away with it as I had done some explosive uphill running.
I know, doesn't sound like Chronic fatigue, but I came from a place where my health had me miles above others. I was a martial arts instructor and hadn't lost a fight in 8.5 years. I think that is what has my experience different than others. I do have days that I don't even leave home anymore.
Master4thdegree, I have recently gone gluten-free (9 weeks now), and it really helped my digestive track. I also think it helped depression. It was really rough going off gluten as far as withdrawal symptoms! I wonder if that turmoil in my body triggered CFS flares as I've had so many during that transition. Hopefully, it will even out and my body will adjust. The activities that send me over the threshold are anything outside my routine (cleaning one area of the house each day and a 10 minute walk). Doing too much cognitive work can get me too. I am housebound, but mostly due to agoraphobia. However, CFS factors into wanting to stay home. The doctor in charge of the study group for Epstein Barr told me, "your cells want to stay home." There are days my fatigue and emotions are so bad, all I can do is go to bed. I read something on the internet about new findings. Seems muscle strain can cause a flare: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/07/160718194125.htm
Triunfadora, I hope I have wisdom for others! I wish I could get out for church once a week like you do. That is something I really miss.
I, too, hate looking around my house. The difference is, I've been suffering so long that my house is a hopeless disaster. It adds to my depression. It's very hard to accept that you can't do anything that requires heavy exertion without "paying for it" later. We all learn how much rest we need in advance of exertion and how much we'll need afterward. Yes, it sure is hard. After almost 30 years I still can't accept it. I wish I had taken care of my house a day at a time back when. Before it got out of hand.
