Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Support Group
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) describes a sense of exhaustion and post-exertion malaise, even when you have gotten enough rest and sleep. The disease is characterized by six months of incapacitating fatigue experienced as profound exhaustion and extremely poor stamina, and problems with concentration and short-term memory. The cause is unknown, but it is a...
I totally agree with Triunfadora! You must not allow yourself to be disrespected by this man, or any other because you are ill. You are not "less than" because you are ill!! None of us are.
I had a wonderful husband, who watched me get sick with CFS. I was in perfect health till this hideous "thing" came and took me down. Since he already knew what kind of energy level I had, and what I was capable of, it really tore him up to watch me take this fall!!
My husband has passed away now, and I find myself in your position. Or, at least in the understanding of it. If I want a companion in future years.....what do I have to offer? I have CFS. I can't really "date"....I'm older now, I don't have youth on my side. It can all get pretty depressing if I dwell on it!
I'm glad you chose YOU and ended the relationship. All of the people that left my life when I became ill with CFS have stayed gone. That tells me that they were never really my true friends in the first place. This man, was not the "man for you" and I feel that there IS a man for you and I pray that you find him soon.
This is a tough life...living with CFS or any chronic illness, when it comes to relationships and dating. It's practically impossible. BUT, there are many really good men out there who WILL understand you and love you for who you are. Not just what you have to offer physically. You are worth the wait, Luna. Yes you are! xo
I think that we sometimes judge what's 'out there' by what we see on tv or in magazines. There is someone or more than one out there who is wanting a quiet peaceful life as well. Perhaps he is also unwell, perhaps he works hard all day and just wants downtime at home.
Once you have had a chance to mourn and heal, listen to your heart and hit the net. Cast your own net wide because that person may not be within 50 or 100 miles, or they could be and you have just never met. ....
had to go through this kind of relationship. Especially around the
holidays. Yet, I agree with what everyone has said. You don't
want to be with someone who is not respecting you. Sometimes
I feel there should be internet sites for single people who have
CFS or similar challenges. I have come to see that just because
we're woman, we're not the only ones with these kind of
challenges. Take good care now and thanks for your post.
Sometimes, I feel there should be internet dating
sites, for people with CFS and similar illnesses
And when I said, just because we're 'woman'
I'm not excluding men on this site.
And being sick wrecks our relationships too. The women I did get along with tended to disrespect me. I guess they saw me as weak because of my disabilities.
I don't think that expressing our feelings here in the group is at all inappropriate, Luna. We're not here just to share medical info, this is a support group. Having a systemic illness is bound to affect every aspect of our lives, and relationships are a very important part of living...or not living as the case may be.
Just surviving doesn't really seem like living to me. But sometimes you have to take whatever you can get in life...even when it's not very much. As for myself, I live alone and only go out to buy groceries. I can't even afford to keep a dog or a cat anymore...the veterinarian costs are too high.
