Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome - anyone?

Anyone who has PVFS? My immune system collapsed and got severe flu (tosillitis) 2.5yrs ago. Then, my neck started hurting. The pain went its way down to lower back so my left back is in pain. Affecting my sleeping as the pain is so so sharp, then my left shoulder joint got affected. Difficulty in breathing. Lump in throat on the left.
Depression
Insomnia
Pain

PVF = CFS.

I was told I had post-viral-fatigue syndrome and every doctor I've known uses it as a synonym for CFS because in a huge majority of cases whatever causes CFS is triggered after a virus like the flu or mono or something . . . .

It is basically the same thing just another terminology for docs to use. I had the Epstien Barr Virus - Fib and CFS so what you are saying is CFS.

I thot PVFS is triggered by virus then it turns into chronic hence CFS. And Fibromyalgia will follow (pain). My doc said it is difficult to draw a line so they are all under ME.
I was just wondering anyone got triggered by a severe flu like illness then turn into chronic.
Since I have this illness, I feel that I lost my life/goal. So strange!

I've been dealing with this for so long I don't want to stand it anymore . . .

At the onset of my illness I went to my family doc and he said I had the flu and put me out of work for 7 days and yeah the flu-like symptoms never went away - My CFS specialist said I had a virus The Epstien Barr Virus which caused the CFS and Fibromyagia.

Yes this does take away the vision we had in our lifes when we were not sick. You have to start all over again and give up the old self and some goals and expectations you had with your future. Things change, and you have to adjust to them and find peace. This can take time but you will be ok

I was diagnosed with fibro in 1991, was able to keep working and then in March< I came down with Epstein-Barr Virus, not sure if that was the first time I had it or just another bout since it stays in your system and waits for a weak moment to raise it's ugly head again. After that, CFS set in. My understanding is that PVF is one of the illnesses listed under the umbrella term "CFS" (that's the way my doc explained it anyway)

i had a severe case of mono in 1999 and the test continued to come back negative for everything so the drs turned to lymphomia and were about to biopsy my bone marrow and lymph nodes-thank goodness the 4th (i think) test finally came back as mono. i had many strange illnesses that put me in the hospital and there were many times that they weren't bad enough to hospitalize but were bad enough to keep me on my back for a week. then in 2003 i was hit with something and after the fire was put out so to speak i was left like this-but in much better shape than i am at this point.
