I take Complete EFA, flaxseed, borage seed and moleculary distilled fish oils from Trader Joes. I assume molecularly distilled
means that it doesn't have mercury cadmiun and other toxic
metals in it even though it doesn't make that claim directly.
Maybe someone else on this site may know if that is
so.
I do appreciate the article. I also have the typical
symptoms such as forgetting words and some temporary bouts
with depression. I would be all too happy if this fish oil cured
that. I can't say with any certainty what effect it has had.
I just feel better taking it in general.
Where I have a problem is with all these suggestions
about having fish two and three times a week. I used to be
a big fish eater. I have had numerous tests for heavy
metals and mercury is now in the medium range. It has
come down from high.
Basically, I don't eat any fish any more. I'm told that
the oceans are so polluted that all fish have mercury.
So. I like reading research and at other times
I find sorting through all the pros and cons can be very
difficult.
There has been a scare campaign against canola oil due to the GMO origin of most of the canola on the market. I avoid GMO myself, so I get that. But organic canola oil is not GMO. I buy it online from Walmart.com.
Canola is just a trade name for low erucic acid rapeseed oil. It's an industry benchmark for a certain standard, not a specific type of oil. Obviously canola, which is a abbreviation of Canada oil, is a more marketable name than "rapeseed oil". Rape is a plant in the mustard family. Canola crops are grown all over the world, but most of the canola in the US comes from Canada. The word is pronounced CAN o la...not ca NOL a.
