Hope I don't get us on a "list" with this one, but here goes.
I just checked in on Phoenix Rising CFS forum and apparently the NIH is brewing up some new comittee, study, or whatever. From what I read, no matter how well intentioned they might be, it has the potential to cause some serious problems for ME/CFS sufferers. Including the likelihood or losing our disability payments and going back to the previous century in treating us chiefly with antidepressants and psychotherapy. You can go to the front page of PR CFS forum and read all the info for yourself, make up your own mind.
And please post your opinions on it here, and your interpretations of what it all means, cos I just don't have the focus or the spoons to read the pages and pages of information /propaganda whatever and sort out fact from fiction, intent from expected results, or bottom line.
Was really upset about this til I realized that my benefits are chiefly based on FIBRO, and CFIDS was hardly even discussed. Lucky me.
Also, as for the CDC, I'm sure we're all about as impressed with how they have handled the current health crisis as we have always been about the anoint of help they have been with CFS. Have found out recently I'm not the only one who is outraged that they spent many man hours having one of their big -time doctors create a comprehensive article for their website assuring everyone how totally prepared they are for a "Zombie Apocalypse (sp?) It goes into extensive detail. If you haven't read it check it out.
Most of the "Healthy People " don't think it was a waste of tax dollars at all. Just a cute and effective tongue in cheek way to draw people to their website. It has been lauded as very successful in teaching the public about what the CDC does and has greatly improved their approval rating.
This is just my opinion, for whatever that's worth, but they need to completely clean house at the CDC from top to bottom. Get rid of every one of those fools, whose mindset is that their PR is more important than finding cures and improving healthcare in this country. I don't even care if they throw "the baby out with the bathwater!" The "baby " is probably one of those lizard people anyway...or maybe a Zombie!
