My dr (who is one of the best CFS doctors in the US) says CFS starts in the gut and travels to the spinal column which and then to the brain.

My thoughts and prayers are with you too for a good SSI outcome. I have had digestive problems for many years. I agree
with the 'hold the coffee' advice. Adding acidic foods to your diet can really
aggravate the situation. I like the protein packets idea. Cutting gluten out of my diet has really made a huge difference.
Everyone's system is different. I would also avoid spices until things settle down a bit. Go bland. ie soda crackers or ginger ale may help if you're able to
get some. Good to hear you got a bag of food.
