What kind / form ginseng are you taking? Dose?
Where do you get it?
Thanks!
I get my Ginseng at the Vitamin Shoppe for a great price. About $12 for a bottle of 100 capsules. I take 2 a day but I'm about to up it to 2 twice a day since my body is I believe more stressed than most. Lately I have been feeling crappy because I decided to reduce my dose of Effexor as well. Eventually I would like to come off of Effexor completely. For now I am going to stay on a combination of 57mg Effexor, 1800mg St John's Wort, and 1200mg Ginseng. Sounds like a lot, I know. But if you look at my list of conditions under my support groups, you'll understand why :) I am a huge fan of using mother nature to treat disease and in fact I'm studying holistic medecine in college.
Keep me posted on your results. If it goes well, spread the word!
Good luck!
I think it's great that ppl are finding it helpful. I take other things as well as ginseng and licorice.
Thx for posting. Each bit of information is a piece of the puzzle.

Potential Side Effects of Ginseng
Ginseng is usually a very well-tolerated herb when it is taken by mouth. The most common side effects are headaches and sleep and gastrointestinal problems. Be aware that ginseng can cause allergic reactions. With ginseng, the ability to concentrate may be decreased and blood sugar may decrease to abnormally low levels. Because ginseng has an estrogen-like effect, pregnant or breastfeeding women should not take it.
American and Asian ginsengs are stimulants and can cause nervousness or sleeplessness. Other reported side effects include high blood pressure, insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, euphoria, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, nosebleed, breast pain, and vaginal bleeding. Siberian ginseng can cause nervousness or restlessness in some people and, in rare cases, may cause diarrhea. This form of ginseng is not recommended for people with high blood pressure. If taken too close to bedtime, Siberian ginseng may cause insomnia.
