Energy Choices

Hi Everyone

I hope you are all finding strength and something positive each day.

I have decided to make my energy choices - yes mine - not what others think - not what I should do - what I chose.

It feels better, I still have the same amount of energy BUT I feel more in control.

This weekend I have not driven myself insane with pain trying to clean cook wash and iron, I have done washing because I chose to thats it.

I went to my daughters engagement party and I danced , rested, danced again. I knew I was going to suffer for it but it was worth it. I stayed in bed for a day and half sleeping and resting WITHOUT GUILT for the first time.

I then did paperwork , that I chose to do because its towards my future.

I have woken this morning , tired yes, but with a different mind set completely - IM TAKING BACK CONTROL OF MY LIFE and it feels good.

Sounds so simple, you've probably all been doing this for ages but I wanted to share it as its made me feel a little brighter and that in my humble opinion is definitely worth sharing.

Yes! We make choices about how to use our energy. It does make you feel more control to know that YOU choose how to expend your energy. Good for you. Much love.

Eventually most of us reach a point where we take charge of our illness instead of having the illness in charge of us. It does help.

It's a mindset...I have this disability, OK, how do I live my life around it?

So wish I were where you are! I have gotten much worse over the past 2 weeks. Am telling myself this is the low part of the wave (originally from the east coast of the US so I tend to think in terms of water, ocean, lake, etc) but it is hard. And I am VERY lucky! I am sitting here with a fire in the wood stove. Comfortable, My goal for today is to clean the kitchen so my husband does not have to do that. Leaning toward more healthy crockpot meals ;)
But it is working with my mind that I find the hardest. My attitude and thoughts (is this going to get better, worse). Is this really how my life is going to be?
I know thinking that way is not helpful but man.

Good for you! Life is so much easier when we decided to work WITH the illness instead of AGAINST it.

It sounds like you made a very freeing decision to make your energy decisions solely based on what works for you. I often have "two steps forward, one step back" in that area. I fall back into old patterns of living up to the expectations of others, or of my former healthy self, and then come back to my senses and choose to use my energy wisely. Chronic illness robs us of enough other choices - you have shared a good reminder of one way we can choose what's best for us.
