I know some people on this site have tried antivirals. I have not tried them because my doctors were not in agreement with me taking them. I hope some others speak up if they have tried them. Many blessings.

Thank you, Triunfadora. Why were your doctors in disagreement regarding antiviral medications? I ask because the same advice might apply to me.

I take an antiviral, Acyclovir, but it was not prescribed for my CFS symptoms. I know when I first started taking it, it helped the one condition for which it was prescribed. However, I don't remember it making any difference in my. fatigue issues.

I use l-lysine on a regular basis. It is an amino acid and is a supplement. My integrative doc got me on it when I had shingles. But I continued with it since it seemed to help keep viruses at bay and support my immune system.

My doctors were against me taking antivirals because they don't really believe that I have high levels of any virus in my body. ME/CFS is often a post-viral affliction. So, I believed that I might have high levels of Epstein-Barr, for example, but the tests did not show that for me. If your tests showed high levels of viruses, perhaps they would be willing to let you try them.

I'm also taking Acyclover for another condition and it has made no difference in my CFS/ME symptoms.

I use an herbal named VirAttack when I am coming down with something but if you use any herbal med all the time it tends to stop working well, so my naturopathic doctor says only when needed for a max of 6 wks then be 6 wks min off of it before using it again. I also use Lysine when I feel a canker sore coming on. I wet a tablet and place it right on the area of the canker and let it dissolve. Usually stops them from coming on.
