I've been having a hard time this past week and a half. I have tried to manage my depression for the past 14 years living with ME/CFS. My stomach has really been upset and my symptoms are flaring and of course, when that happens my depression increases. I cannot tolerate prescription medications so I have a pretty big tool box of coping tricks, yet sometimes I use them all up and still feel very low. This is one of those times when I am really struggling to put one foot in front of the other.
I haven't posted here in quite a long while. I usually just check in on some friend's journals, but even then I have realized that quite a few of the people I connected with on here when I first started coming to this site aren't around so much.
Sometimes I just need to know in a more profound way that I am not alone in this.

We're a special lot, we CFS/ME sufferers. Ya know why? Cuz nobody in the medical profession knows how to help us. We each feel like we're alone with our problems and it's up to us to solve them. How ridiculous is that, in this day and age.
We band together here to help each other, because we know that WE are the best doctors for US!! We get it. We know we can't take meds. WE know that this thing has a zillion symptoms that rock our world all the time. We know that we have to figure it out by ourselves. Depression is just one symptom of the many we go through as we daily try to maintain some sanity.
You are not alone, my friend. I pray every night for my friends here. I ask God to help me find answers, because the doctors look at me like I have two heads.
The depression is a result of your suffering, not a cause of your suffering. I've been sick for half as many years as you. I know that nobody has a golden rainbow out there for us. But we do have hope sweet lady!! And we have each other.
Come here more often and let us support you and give you some good old fashion pats on the back for dealing with this monster!!
One of these days, somebody's gonna figure something out and kick this ilness in the butt!! I'm a waitin!!!!
