Im really struggling with my relationship, I have been with my boyfriend for a year and a half and have always noticed after spending time together it takes a few days to recover to my usual level of function.
However this seems to be getting worse recently and I'm feeling really awful after our time together and taking even longer to recover, it's so hard as I know being with him and spending time with him is making me ill but at the same time it's one of the main positive things in my life, someone to connect with and enjoy life with.
But as we see each other normally once a week I'm spending a half of my life at the moment feeling extra awful, I feel really sad at thought of giving up on this relationship as I'm still young ish (32) and I'm hoping to have a family one day, and like I say I feel like this relationship is something that does give me a lot of positives, but I don't think I can carry on feeling like this.
I think I do push myself with him and I don't think he still understands the full horrors of this illness as I think I do hide when I feel unwell, I know I also push myself in a physical nature within the relationship although still not that often I feel it's important in a relationship specially at our ages but again I suffer for days after this.
I feel so its so I unfair that this illness takes everything from you even the ablility to have a close relationship and probably the chance of having a family.

I didn't want to put this on him or involve him, but as he reminds me it's his choice. Don't underestimate this person or make yourself ill to see him. Tell him what's really going on. I you lose him, then maybe he's not worth it. A friend of mine got ill at the start of the relationship too, and now they have a child and she is doing well.
