I found out, your name 'Susan' means Lily in Hebrew! And that the root meaning of the name Lily means 'to be of joy.' Dear girl, you are meant to be in joy! Also, Lily means not to worry. :-))

Father, You named your daughter, You knew here before her mama knew she was there! You saw her being formed and chose her name long ago! Then Father, I ask, that Susan be in joy! That she would have much joy in life! That she would worry about nothing! That the meaning of her name would manfest in her life. Not the lie of the devil, not depression/worry/suicide! Thats not of You! Come, remove all depression, suicidal thoughts/tendencies from Susans mind, heart and life!

I will pray for you. Do not be ashamed that you are struggling. Sometimes it is circumstances that depress us, and sometimes it is the brain chemicals not working properly, and sometimes both! I know I was very depressed for many years, but God led me out of that valley. This is the scripture God gave me. I knew if King David was depressed, it was a pretty common problem. It helped me not to feel so alone in my depression.

Psalm 42:5 "Why am I so depressed?
Why this turmoil within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him,
my Savior and my God."

I am praying you will sort out your med issues.

I hope and pray your doctor will listen to you and let you take the meds that were helping you the most. I've had many years of depression, finally got on Effexor which helps, but still struggle with a lot of sadness. That's still more bearable than the deep-down depressions. And I've wanted to kill myself many times in my life, but have decided no matter how bad things may get, I won't give the Devil the satisfaction, and I won't give up my place that God has prepared for me in heaven.

There is a quote by St. Teresa of Avila, which I reworded so I could remember it better, but basically it says: "If you have God, you have everything. Patience wins all." I'll be praying that you don't have to have tons of patience, but that you get a cure, and fast. Hang in there.. : )

Thank you for your responses. I am taking it day by day, but I am pretty sure this is a combination of this pain and chemical imbalance caused by meds. My thoughts of suicide are mimimal and way in the back. Since I joined this group (all of my groups here) I have found purpose again in things that bring joy to my life, like writing and supporting others. It is just that sometimes the things I tell others I don't apply to myself. I can think the answers, but I have a hard time putting them to use when the time comes. Every day, I turn this problem over to God. I am 62 and I know that I have so much more to do with my life. Obviously he isn't done with me yet. lol I have been better for the last couple of days. Depression is a strange thing.

Glad you are feeling a bit better. I'd be lost without my computer and DS. Here's a place to help others and also find help. I agree with you on the point about trying to take our own advice, it's easier to give it than it is to follow ourselves. And sometimes, it's darned good advice, too! Judy

I want to thank all of you and your prayers. Went to the doctor last week and he was wonderful. I praise God for putting him in my life daily. Meds were changed and that black cloud that was hovering just above my head had disappeared. I am so grateful for the prayers and the friendships. I am so used to being on the other end, that it was realy hard for me to ask for help. But you responded with love and caring and I feel so comforted. With each problem area, God gives us a chance to learn to be a better student so that we can serve him better and be a better person. I can honestly know of some instant answers and ways to let his miracles work in my life immediately. Again, I can't thank you enough. God be praised and praised and may all of you be blessed for stepping up to someone in need.
